Fairy Wrasse Question

Hey guys, I'm starting to finally add fish to my 220 gal. I am wanting to put in a couple of fairy wrasses. I know for sure I want a lubbocks. So I would like to find another fairy that is peaceful and wouldn't cause any issues with this one. Looking to spend no more than a 100 dollars. Appreciate your suggestions and would love to hear any personal experiences with the fish you suggest.

Fairy Wrasse Question

Exquisite wrasse is nice and usually costs $50. Don't get a Solar wrasse. They can be as mean as some of the lined wrasses to fairy wrasses if not meaner.

I havent had a problem with solorensis wrasses towards other fairy wrasses, but if that worries you, rubripinnis are very peaceful and inexpensive. Juvenile rubrimarginatus are beautiful and within your price, and there is also ryukyuensis/ lyukyuensis which is prettier than its close relative cyanopleura and within your budget as well.

Looking into a couple you suggested. Really liking the look of the orange back and rubrimarginatus. The lyukyuensis isn't bad either. Might have to get a few of these fairy's instead of just a couple. Another question do you guys know if the fairy wrasse's go around hunting pods all day?

No; Cirrhilabrus (and Paracheilinus) are zooplankton feeders. They'll snatch pods out of the water column, but typically not from the substrate.

Another question do you guys know if the fairy wrasse's go around hunting pods all day?

Not to the same extent as Leopard and Wetmorella wrasses. My Tanaka's Pygmy wrasses hunt for them all day so did my African leopard wrasse. However, my Lineatus fairy wrasse was not as predatorial.

Ok good, I've got a pencil wrasse that hunts them all day long and didn't want to put a bunch of fairy wrasse's in the tank if they needed them too. The red velvet looks awesome but from what I've read seem to be more aggressive towards other wrasses. Let me know if you guys have kept them without issues involving other wrasses though and I'll think about one for sure. The red velvet was my wife's first choice. I swear she always picks out the fish that are the most aggressive lol.

If you have enough fairy wrasses, approximately 5+, the rubrisquamis wont present any real problems. He will be the most dominant and display and do some chasing, but can certainly be housed with them, just add him after any other fairy wrasses,
