Fall Salt Group Buy

Like I said, I need it all picked up by the weekend of the 17th, since I'm having surgery on the 19th. That gives us 2 weeks. Let's see how many responses we get over this weekend.

Just PM me for my Paypal address. After I figure out the shipping & Paypal charge (usually 3%, I think), I'll list how much everyone owes & after I get all payments, I'll put in the order. Then when it comes in, I'll post it here. Last time I think everyone paid about $3 over cost.

Jeni...I just got a e-mail from that fish place...buy 3 buckets of salt get the 4th free...the salt is on sale to boot...just a thought...I was going to go ahead and get 4 buckets at that price...

ppurcel 2 buckets RC
madadi 1 bucket RC
Efrain 1 bucket RC
Musho 1 bucket RC
NewSchool 1 bucket RC
Oblivionis 2 buckets RC
Marco_Daiello 2 buckets RC
jefferyR 1 bucket RC

Shipping will be divided equally among salt buyers. Usually nominal. Paypal fee is around 3%.

Nina, I will look into that. If anyone would rather go that route, let me know.

FWIW, be sure to compare the shipping prices for that fish place v. df&s.

I looked into this before I ordered recently and in the end the shipping tipped the scales back to df&s for cheapest, plus it gets to you pretty fast (just down from Wisconsin so usually next day or 2 day at cheap ground prices.)

Figure around $35

lactose, I thought of that later tonight. DFS does not charge extra for weight. That's why we can gewt away with so much salt for so cheap. Last time I ordered, I think close to 20 buckets came to $18 shipping. I think my UPS guy hates me...

When the salt comes to me from the Dr's, It always comes fedex. It is funny though, I track the shipments because I want to know when I am getting my loot. The regular boxes and the salt take 2 very different routes to get here. The salt goes somewhere like Minneapolis I think. The boxes pretty much come straight here. Their shipping is awesome though, 1 day on boxes and 2 days on salt!

I just checked the fishplace deal...

$26.17 price per bucket of RC (including free bucket)
$47.99 ground shipping
$38.17 total per bucket for 4 buckets

Shipping charge increases in proportion to quantity of buckets.

DFS works out a little better.

$29.49 per bucket
$12.99 shipping for 4 buckets
$32.74 each

or
$29.49 per bucket
$16.99 shipping for 8 buckets
$31.61 each

or
$29.49 per bucket
$17.99 shipping for 32 buckets
$30.05 each

(I wish I knew how to get a deal like that on shipping... that's about $0.56 to ship each bucket)

I noticed that with the path as well, GrandeGixxer.

The first time I ordered salt and saw it head to Minneapolis I freaked out thinking Fedex had gone wacky as every other box from them always came straight down but it came fine the next day.

I guess when you pay 50 cents to send a really heavy bucket of salt they put more effort into it :p

Their shipping rates are impressive roughly 9.99 for the first bucket and then a $1 more per bucket (at least up to the 4 or so I have ever bought at the same time)

A bucket lasts me about 4-5 months so I just get 1 at a time. I am a constant tracker when I have something coming. I get mad sometimes, "I know it is out for delivery, where is this clown?" My wife laughs at me when I sit on the couch with the front door open just waiting. Fedex doesn't even knock anymore, they just drop and run. My last package was sitting out there for like 20 minutes before I knew it was there.

Yeah, the problem with FedEx is that if I'm waiting for a fish or coral delivery that requires a signature to keep the warranty in effect, they drop and run. I have even gone to the point of leaving the main door open, with the screen door locked and they STILL just drop and run...Now I just sit in the front window and note the time of delivery and complaining to the Fed Ex office. I hate to do it but if something comes in dead and there's no signature, it's my fault. I have seriously been thinking of taking a road trip up to Drs. F and S in Rhinelander...it's like a 5 hour ride, spend a couple of hours there and head back. My Excursion seats 5 comfortably, is a diesel, gets about 18 MPG on the road...if someone would like to split fuel costs, divided by the number of riders, that would be a good trip...I hear they have a great set up.
