false perc not hosting

ive had a BTA for about a week now, and the clown has been in the tank for about a month. the clown completely ignores it. i was hoping it would host. is there no hope for the two to make friends????

well ive heard a bunch of stories about ocellaris's are are so over tank bred they lose some of the natural instincts of hosting. dont expect it to happen over night i heard some guy waited 7months for his to host..

but i've heard some tricks work put a picture of a clownfish taped on the side of the tank. sometimes works

on a second note this hobby is truly about patience....give it time grasshoppa

I had the same problem, i had two false percs and i introduced an LTA and wouldnt go near it.. 5 months later I took the chance and bought a clarki clown that i saw hosting in an anemone in the store.. the clarki clown hosted with the anemone and eventually the 2 percs became aggressive with the clarki and one day kicked the clarki out.. i then caught the clarki and brought him to the fish store, i felt awful because they were picking on him.. It was a lesson learnt for me but my clowns have recently began hosting with it....

um... thanks for your input?
proper name is very important. Here's why:
Amphiprion ocellaris (when used in any search) is very likely to give you much better search results than "false perc" (ditto for "BTA"). If you research fish hosting anemone species and their fish symbionts you'll discover that ocellaris don't naturally occur with E. quads (another common name for the BTA Entacmaea quadricolor).
This doesn't mean that your ocellaris won't host with that anemone species but it does mean that it might take some patience on your end.

this thread is proof to the contrary if his clown was captive bred- and there's a good chance it was.
