FarmerTy 215-gal No Water Change SPS Tank

Whoa!! So cool!!
Hid under the covers!?!
I'd be running naked in the streets yelling 'I can fly, I can fly!!'

Forgot to mention I got an elusive classic I've been searching for awhile now. He came in last month and is settling in nicely! I love the old classics! You always know what you're getting!

Hello O. G. Purple Monster! Oh yeah, you have to look real hard to find him... Just follow the finger! [emoji57]

Sweet that you got one I remember visiting Steve Tyree and seeing the original one Back in the day. Had a large one for a long time gave it away to a club member.

Yeah, he spoke at our local Austin coral conference last year and was tempted to ask him to bring a frag of it but then found out he lost his so that was another dead end there for a source.

Good ol' Unique Corals came through for me after bugging everyone on the forums for a year for a piece.

Nice!! I'd do plenty of things, I'd be embarrassed to admit to, to get a frag of true purple monster.
Jealous!!

Tell me about it! I know there are plenty of newer knockouts these days but being acro-dominant, I felt like I had to have this classic in the tank as an homage to the niche group of acroholics who torture themselves daily with this affliction.

I told myself I'd never pay an absurd amount of money for a booger frag but I felt this was a good exception to the rule.

I love the classic SPS it's how the hobby of keeping SPS started. I ask for a classic SPS frag from these newbie sellers and they think you are crazy. But once you see the classics in all their glory you know why we love them. [emoji3]Will have to big Unigue myself [emoji3]

Definitely hit them up. I was very pleased that they cut to order, allowed a full 2 weeks to heal, and then reached out to me for a ship date.

Regarding the newbie sellers, mainly those with 2 or 3 letter acronyms as names, I get really tired of seeing overly priced frags with just a macro shot of the frag with no mother colony pictures. I don't buy anything without a mother colony picture. Have you ever tried searching for a mother colony picture of a certain vendors corals that's abbreviation is the same letter twice? I think I could find a sunken treasure at the bottom of the ocean before I find a mother colony pic of one of those. And when I do see a mother colony, its nice but nothing special. Looks similar to some of the full mariculture colonies I get at my LFS for $50. These sellers don't get to shop in the amazing acro only section of the ocean, its all from the same sources. Half of those new frags are just mariculture colonies chopped up. They sell you the most brightly colored part, the tip, and then you assume the whole colony will grow and look like that tip as well. I guess if people want to keep donating money and waiting around for little frags to be awesome colonies, who am I to interfere.

Sorry for the rant. This is why I enjoy my classics too. Tried, true, and expected results with these. The newer ones I'll let others test out first and then let me know if its worth it. My stocking philosophy was old classics mixed in with maricultures. Its nice to know what I'm getting with the classics and its been a joy too to watch some of the maricultures turn into treasures. The ones that don't get moved along and I try another mariculture.
