fast growing/seemingly hardy sponge

I've seen these in others displays, and got two small pieces one time at emerald bay. The one pictured was about a 1/2" piece when i got it. It's now almost 3", in about 5 months. I have one other slightly bigger. I have no idea what the scientific name is, but chartreuse in color (stands out like a light bulb), and grows extremely fast. Easily the hardiest sponge i have kept. I know alot of sponge seem alright at first, and slowly die over the course of a year or so, but these have shown decent growth short term.

Something about yellow sponges... I have them on the undersides fo rocks, but not too much out in the open. The 5.5 at work has a few pieces that are more out in the open and are growing (high nutrient tank). It's nice to see something that is supposed to be hard to keep thrive:).

The yellow sponges are really hardy from what I have heard. I have them thriving in my fuge under my 6500K daylight NO bulb. I just gave a bunch of rock covered in them to my parents who transported it back to KS with only a few inches of water in a cooler. They swished them water around ever 2 hours to keep the rock wet and supposidly the sponges made it to their tank safely.

These are the exact one's I have too. FYI, i've noticed that if you move rocks and these sponges get more visible to light... hair algae tends to grow on them easily. :( I re-arranged my tank a little and contribute my hair algae partly to these things.

They are hardy, but I'd suggest scrubbing them off the top side of the rocks if you move any around. Again, I'm not certain about all this... its just what i've observed.

I picked up some of the same green sponge and it seems to be doing okay. The largest of it had a mishap but seems to be growing again. I see more little tubes sticking out every few days. I also got a piece today that has bright red sponges on it. I am curious to see how these do... Anyone had those before?

it looks a lot like the green one shown above more clay like in texture ( or at least in appearance) bright red, fire engine red, little vent tubes like the green...

I have these too! They've been in my tank since the beginning 2.5 years ago, and have been exposed to air several times during moves, etc. They have survived everything and spread and grow rapidly, but do not become a pest. One of my favorite hitchhikers!
