Some pretty spectacular corals in this thread.

I've got this one that i'm not sure is a favia, but it looks pretty similar to some of them in here. figured this was the place that someone would know.

siropa - It looks more like a Moseleya, but I could be wrong too!

Very nice piece! I saw one like that on Divers Den last week.

Sara,

I got it when we were up at the liveaquaria facility last saturday. It was that Moseleya piece from the DD, but every picture i've seen of those doesn't look like the one I got.

Duh! I though it looked really familiar! I too had looked at the piece last Friday online and then in person as well on Saturday. It was a very nice piece, but I didn't have room for it ;-) Glad it went to a good home. In the Vernon books the Moseleya is in book #3 on page 269. The edges are sharper in the books photographs, but yours could just be inflated at the time of the photo. Whatever variety it may be, it's very nice! Good score!

I saw it on DD on friday online as well and it was the #1 coral I was looking for on saturday. But actually when I saw it in person I almost didn't get it because it didn't look nearly as impressive in the DD tubs as it did online. I bought it with the hope it would look more colorful in my tank, and it turned out well. I sure haven't seen many corals like that one in person before.

I have one of veron's old books and the pic of a moseleya in there doesn't look at all like mine, but perhaps i've just not seen the right book. Thanks for the reference and i'll try to find that.

Steveoh,

VERY nice indeed. Once again, if I stay away for a couple of days, I come back & find tons of new pics & replies. Gratifying to know this thread remains strong after all this time!

Mark,
Thanks, will do!

Wishintoboutside,

Not far, maybe 40-45 minutes travel time (Traffic permitting.) I live in Waxahachie, south of DFW proper.

Sincerely,
Matthew

I've been waiting for this thread to reappear so I could post the top down of my new purple favia. The lighting was a brand new Radium, two 250w 12,000K ReefLux plus VHO actinics. Tons of blue, but in Photoshop I reduced it to 70%. A very pretty piece.

OK Marc, you knew you had that all along just waiting to impress us all. IT WORKED. That was very nice, love the blue & purple Favia..

Sincerely,
Matthew

I'm just glad to have something nice to contribute to this thread. Y'all have some amazing pieces. That war coral is one I'd like to get one day.

I just might. I really wasn't planning on dealing with livestock, but I could squeeze one into my suitcase perhaps. ;)
