Favia with huge frag hole in the middle of it

Hi - I bought what looked like a lovely Favia on-line, but when it arrived it had a large frag hole right in the middle of it. I am really annoyed that I got conned like that (it didn't show the hole at all in the picture), but mostly I am sad that a lovely coral has been ruined by cutting a hole in the middle of it. The hole has taken out the rock beneath the Favia too. The edges look very ragged around the hole, and have also receded slightly on the edges of the coral overall. It doesn't look like it has been very well cared for. Just wondering if anyone knew whether the hole will heal, or at least tidy up a bit. It is kinda ruining the look of the coral at the moment. Thanks.

I would say that it should heel if you take good care of it. That would actual set me off, but that's one reason I don't order corals offline. I have a cup coral that I had to dremmal the middle out due to an infection. At first the edges were rough but now is actual starting to close up.

Not sure how one would cut a frag from the middle of a favia (maybe that isn't what you are saying) unless they used some kind of hole saw. Is there just a void under the missing flesh or a divot in the rock? You should see a skeleton if the coral was damaged (not fragged). The favia will regrow over the bare spot but it will take a lot longer to do this if there is no rock for it to encrust over.

A lugols dip will probably be of benefit to the coral along with some target feeding of meaty foods.

Sounds like they sold you a pot roast, then sent the potatoes and kept the meat for themselves....

If everything is Ok and it doesnt RTN on you it should heal no problem with the right parameters (NO3, PO4, Ca, Alk, Mg)... I would call them to get money back or something, send them a pic of the coral as it arrived... Whenever I order online I take pics of me opening the box and the first view of the coral, just in case something is wrong
