Feeding a Naso

I just recently bought a female naso tang for my 210gallon tank but dont know exactly what is the best to feed. I have heard everything from only green flaked, red sea week flakes, sperlina flakes or just alive macro alge. I can get all the two little fishies aquarium foods which seem to be a good product. Does anyone have any suggestions on what would be best?

Thanks

For commerical products, I would go for a good frozen food, like Formula 2 or perhaps the LifeLine food. Then, perhaps throw in a seaweed clip for nori and something like Seaweed Selects. You could also consider making your own food, if you're interested. That's what I do, actually.

I agree 100% with the Nori. My blonde naso loves it. I would also recommend some P.E. Mysis shrimp. This stuff is 70% or so protein. Most of the other foods, O.N.(Formula 2) and hikarai(Spelling?) are mostly water. They love brine shrimp but there is not too much nutrients in them. I would also consider some sperlina flakes

My Naso won't eat any offered food at this point. Has been in my tank for 6 months or so and is still fat and sassy, constantly grazing off the rocks. She will look at the Spectra pellets but has yet to partake. They feed solely on brown algae in the wild so offerings should be geared in that direction.

My blonde is a fiend for Caulerpa and Nori. She steals the sheet of nori from my foxface as well. And she is quite fat and healthy!

All of my tangs, including my pair of Naos's eat pellets. Mostly spectrum pellets for alage eaters. I try and feed a mix of various pellet foods to them.

I also feed a sheet of nori a day. They devoure it in a few min so I don't worry about putting it on a clip. ;) But then again, the smallest tang I have is my 9" female naso. :D The largest is a 13" Vlamingi. ;)

I get the shsui roll sheets from the local Asain store, about 4 bucks for a pack of 30 large sheets. It's the same nori at the fish store, just a whole lot cheapier. Just make sure you get the plain roasted or dried ones, nothing with addatives. If you look closley at the sheets, you can see that they are made up of various types of Nori. Good luck with her.
