Feeding Anemones

Hi

Wanted to know what everyone feeds their anemones. I just fed my two new GBTAs for the first time--I fed each one a frozen cube of brine--my question is this--is giving them frozen food bad for their system? What else do you feed your anemones? What are favorite foods? Does anyone feed chopped up shrimp? Let's get a thread going of what is feed and what success same has brought--ie color, growth etc.

I've fed silversides, shrimp, clams, oyster, fish and squid. Now I don't feed at all because I don't want it growing to 13" across and splitting all over my tank. I ended up with half my tank covered by them a while back. But if you want to feed them good then every other day worked out best for mine.

raw frozen shrimp is cheap and natrual. Works good for me. I have found my BTAs to sometimes take other items and sometime not. they have spit up squid, scallop, oyster, and fish, but never the shelled thawed raw pieces of shrimp. this is my experience anyway.

I cut the shrimp into quarter inch pieces and them feed to my two BTAs. Feeding enhances growth. The latest I have read says you should feed once in a while as light alone is never enough in the long haul. Lots of feeding can cause faster growth. So feed a little or feed a lot, depends upon what you want out of them.

In the end, try what others suggests. Your anemones will let you know over time what they like and don't like.

Good luck, Kevin
