Feeding my Anemone

After reading some of the posts in this forum I have found that a lot of people feed their anemones shrimp. When you do this can you buy frozen and then just thaw it before you feed it to them, or does is have to be fresh. I feel bad for my anemone. No wonder he is so small. I have been feeding it this green food that my local reef store uses. They have always said that is all I need.

Really the best thing is to get silversides(frozen) and give one a week.
Mine get that and whatever mysis they pick up when feeding fish.

My clown just started feeding my bta, so....I'm going to stop target feeding mine....but they like silversides.

Alot of people advise against prepared seafoods because of preservatives and other additives. I think most people just buy it fresh, chop it up and freeze it themselves.

If you can mix other chopped fresh seafood, especially other shellfish like clams and such, then freeze, even better.

Thanks for all the advice. I will try all the suggestions. I did give him a small piece of the shrimp. He gobbled it up. I have never seen him eat like that. How often do you feed them?

I give mine one silver a week, but a small nem might only need like half of one.
It doesn't take much really as light is a huge energy source as well.
Some w/ lower light may feed more often to compensate.

I would just feed him sea food mean for human consumption. Just make sure that there are no additive added to the food to keep it fresh. My anemone eats salmon, shrimp, tuna, whatever I have cut down to small size and frozen. I thaw it out just before I feed the anemone.

Can you over feed? i just got a hatian pink tip i think but it has white tip which i think means it has been stressed before i bought it but the tenticals are a brown tan color. i feed it what ever i am feeding the fish. so brine, mysis, or squid i think it is.
