Hey I'm sure this has been asked before...sorry search isnt working.

Got a fuzzy dwarf a week ago, Dendriochrius barberi....only about and 1.5 long with red eyes to cute! Any idea's on how old?

Anyway he was eating at the LFS, saw him eat a ghost shrimp, well it's been a week now and he hasnt eaten anything. Wondering how long he can go.....and how do I get him to eat.

Suggestions?

55 gal tank, chem's normal, plenty of live rock, with 6in S puffer. :D

lions have a slow digestive system compared to other fish. they usually eat about every two to three days.

kinda reminds me of a snake!

At an 1.5 inches, probably only a few months old. For feeding, have you offered ghost shrimp like the LFS was giving it?

tried ghost shrimp and feeder guppies.....yes I know the guppies arnt good for him longer term but something is better then nothing

glad to hear a week isnt a big deal.

Keep offering the live foods for now. I'd expect him to start eating soon. Though you might want to keep an eye on the puffer as they can be a bit nippy and it might be bothering the lion.

my fuzzy was the same way for about a week and a half, i know it sounds mean but starve him for a day or two more then wiggle the food on top to get his attention once he starts chasing after it let it go and he should go after it. mine is a pig! eats anything that hits the water.

It can take awhile for them to eat. I have 2 dwarfs and the largest ate live rosie reds right away on entry. The second dwarf was not interested for a month and would not chase anything live or frozen. I was feeding the first dwarf in the second week large frozen krill and one day after 5 week the second decided to eat frozen krill. I didn't have a hard time weaning off live!
