How many times do you do this a day? Do you shut your skimmer off?
2 or 3x a day: rotate 6 diff. types flake, 2 diff. pellets, and 4 diff. frozen...
skimmer always on, have 2 overflows: 1 with XL sock that is changed daily, other goes directly into skimmer/return chamber of 8' 200g sump/refugium

Was just thinking about this... But how much $ do you spend a month on fish food? lol Its go to add up... with 80 Fish
actually over 100 fish with my 2 other systems...12 in my grandson's tank, and 10 'rescue' fish in my 300g prop. tanks, held for friends, that could not keep them anymore!

Anyway, I have always avoided keeping track of costs...that would ruin the fun!
I do buy food in bulk...ie: 5+ lbs frozen Mysis / Plankton for ~$25

two things where are you ordering frozen food from in bulk .....and from your video it seems your adding a lot of unneeded waste byproduct with your food feedings ... if I had to guess I would say your just thawing it in a cup or bowl of rodi then just pouring it in......if you rinsed it better you would not get the white milky waste byproduct from the binding media used with the mysis.....I have a 540 with 38 lg fish tangs, angles, wrasses, triggers, and such ....nitrates can become an issue with the heavy feeding .....I take a 2 in x 2 in piece along with a 2x2 piece of frozen krill and place them in a very fine straining net and run them under hot water until they are thawed then cold for a few seconds to change the temp of them back to cold and when added to the DT no waste product is ever entered from the packaging media used .....just the pure clean pe mysis only

actually thaw it in tank water, then rinse it thru a brine shrimp net...however once a week (as in video) I do not rinse it, and let it all go into tank. I believe there is a thread or link here on RC, that says to never rinse the frozen food.

bulk food is ordered from Jehmco dot com
