Feeding

Ok guys I have a bit of a silly question. Is there any kind of feeding schedule for my bubble anemone, or how often should it be feed?

Very simple question I know, but I need to know. I feed him yesterday one shrimp, and today he still has his long tenticles out like he is still hungary.

Thanks

Long tentacles is not a result of hunger. It's more often a result of lighting, water flow, or water quality. Although many bubble up when they're fed, they lose the bubbles before they are hungry again. They shouldn't be fed any more than every other day. The average around here seems to be once a week unless it's sick or hurt.

I feed my anemones small portions every day. On top of this, my two largest anemones (haddoni and gigantea) get a large piece of meat every few days.

Elegance Coral - how small are the pieces? I may be using pieces that are too big, but mine won't ever eat the next day.

I used to feed my RBTA's every day, but now I just put the food in the tank and let the food go to them or let my GSM Clowns feed the RBTA's. I enjoy watching the GSM's lose a big chunk of food to them, kind of funny to watch them.

I feed a pinch or two of small krill or mysis every day. They also steal some of the food I feed the fish. The larger anemones share one large shrimp tail. Not those jumbo, super massive, shrimp I see at the grocery store. The tail is about two or three inches long, and about half an inch in diameter. I peel it and cut it in half. One half goes to the haddoni, and the other to the gigantea.

Ah ok. I am feeding my haddoni the same size piece as yours, but I am also feeding my BTAs the same size portions as the haddoni. So I am definitely feeding in bigger pieces there.

I agree with EC. I feed my 125g PE mysis daily for one of the meals and always make sure that my two nems capture a few- same with the 2 nems in my 25g. These nems are very healthy and have split countless times turning out beautifully sized healthy babies that my LFS buys from me and always sell within 48 hrs. So I believe that the trick is small feedings daily, as opposed to large spaced out feedings.
