Feel overstocked

Feeling overstocked, let me know what you guys think. The tank is a 125gal reef tank 48x24x24 and I have like a 30-40gal sump. I just removed my yellow tang earlier today but I feel kind of bad because the Majestic,Purple and Yellow were always swimming as a trio but doing whatever is best for the tank. I was also thinking about removing 1 Chromis and maybe 1 bluetailed Damsel.

3 Bartlet Anthias
1 Majestic Angel
1 Purple Tang
2 Chromis
2 Bluetailed Damsel
2 clownfish
1 Sixline Wrasse

unless the majestic is 6" plus, then i dont think it is too bad even with the yellow tang. i'm pretty liberal when it comes to stocking though. i probably wouldnt add anything else though.

The Majestic is 4.5 he's has grown about .5-.8 in a year. I actually want to add 2-3 more bartlet to my school and if possible a golden angel. :worried:

I'll try, it was hard enough to catch the Yellow. I baited him with a nori clip and turned off the lights on him but these damsels are really nimble. I can get one of the Chromis out for sure because he sleeps near the top of the rocks.

search fish traps on here. i often see guys claiming how well they work.. some are DIY and some purchased. if you belong to a local reef club, one of the fellas would probably be glad to loan you the trap.

yeah, 6 bartletts in the tank would look much better than 3 and some damsels.

what you have against you is the footprint. Big difference in swimming space for a 6ft 125 vs a 4ft 120(what you have is a 120g).

You'll know when your fish are cramped by their behaviors.

^^^^^^I agree.^^^^^ A Purple Tang just never reaches his potential in a 4' tank. Tanks that sacrifice length for width/height are hard to stock and much of the water column often goes unused. I know that space considerations sometimes make them the best tank you can do.IMO, tanks this size & shape are better suited for smaller fish.
In a 125, a couple of chromis or damsels can't possibly have any effect on the tank; except in the way you see it. The PT and Angel will always look out of place. A dwarf Angel, or 2, would make more sense. IMO.

Yeah I always thought my tank was a bit small when I look at it, my purple and majestic are still small so they look right for now but you're right, they probably will never reach their max potential. I really wished I had gotten a 6" tank but I didn't do my research when I bought my tank. I guess when time comes i'll have to either upgrade tanks or move them to my dad's fowlr tank. Btw this is the tank I have, found this picture online. Will be uploading a picture of my tank later today. :fish2:

IMO, a tank like this has plenty of potential, just not with large fish. You might want to consider aquascaping so that fish will feel secure in the upper part of the tank. Of course, using LR from top to bottom can be a real problem; securing the rock, cost, etc. But there are ways to use ingenuity, hidden PVC framework, etc., to achieve that look. Your anthias are great for a tank like this; but you'll surprise yourself with a little imagination (and some gorgeous wrasse!) just what you can do.
