female light connector

Owen has graciously loaned the club a MH reflector and 175w ballast for use at Jofish for one of the consignment tanks (we haven't forgotten Ron).

175w seems the right power, as the consignment tanks are not deep and the frags will be close to the surface once they're resting on racks.

There is no female connector on the lamp output from the ballast, just two wires. Does anyone have a female connector they could bring to the meeting or know of a local source? I had one suggestion for a source in San Rafael but I haven't been able to get down there.

As the light fixture is on loan, I'd rather not hack off the male plug.

Here's what it looks like (male connector from light on left, ballast output on right):

oh... I can't see the pic cause I'm at work but I think I just had that same problem. I'll have to look at the pic at home . But what I did was cut the cord plug coming from the light reflector it's like a wired three plug I have never seen before. Then I got a computer power cord that plugs into the lumetek ballast and cut the wall end off of that and hard wired the two together. The cord colors are even the same on the inside so it was cake. That is if the plugs are the same I am thinking of. I can do it at the meeting. But we will need and extra computer cord. Anyone have one lying around?

PS: I am guessing it is a lumenarc reflector and a lumetek ballast?

Shane, it's an ARO ballast that doesn't have a plug connector on the ballast body, just wires emerging. But thanks for the suggestion.

Rob good idea. There's that one near In & Out on Lakeville. I'll stop by there.

Ken i know of two more hydro places in petaluma

one is on the side road near the D street Bridge, it back up to the river.

The other is called "Funny farms hydro" I see it off the side of the freeway going north it is near the redwood gym.

I had to move my comp and have not ran the internet cord yet so i still can't see it.

haha it's almost been two years I have been in the process. I’m beyond frustrated! I'm still clean as a whistle. I figure it will happen as soon as I get my tank all dialed in...that’s life.

Ken if you have to just cut the cord on the fixture. I probably would have anyway because I don't like bulky plugs and I often solder and water seal those connections anyway.

I seem to remember the guy from lumenarc saying something about that adapter at the meeting a while back I just can't recall what he said.

I won't be disappointed if you cut it though.
