Is there any other fish with the fire clown?

I ask because I had one and he was way too aggresive towards other tank mates.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

The anemone is a neon green.

I have a maroon clown and a sixline wrasse with him. The fire clown was a little shell shocked from the acclimation, and my maroon clown, who had never even looked twice at previous tank mates, went absolutely bonkers when I added the fire clown.

In fact, the maroon was relentless with his attacks- so much so that I didn't think the fire clown was going to make it. Interestingly enough, the fire immediately bonded to the Haddoni. The next couple of days was a completely different story. Now it the maroon steers clear of the haddoni, and in fact I noticed the fire clown searching out the maroon on some stealth missions for a little pay back...;)

He is very aggressive, however things have settled down quite a bit. He has become very used to the maroon and sixline, and to my amazement, he now allows them to actively swim near and above the anemone. They all seem to "hang" out sometimes- mainly because that is usually where I feed them.

It's an uneasy truce..:) Sometimes the fire will go after either fishif they get "too" close. I have noticed this behavior varies with the time of day, activity level of the fish, and during feeding.

What's more is that the fire clown goes bonkers when I place my hands in the tank- within almost two feet of the anemone he goes bonkers and attacks me....funny because my hands are pretty damn big, so he must think he's attacking a fish 10-15 times his size. He also goes nuts on my mag float...when I clean the glass anywhere near the anemone he rams his face into the magnet...and I mean he literally RAMS his face into it...I half expect him to get knocked out.

He's definately fun to watch, and he has alot of character. I think the balance works because the maroon and sixline are no slouches when it comes to having a subtle aggressive side. :)

Why not get a pair of Fire clown and trade the maroon in. It would be nice to have a pair rather than have two clown that fighting each other. That Fire clown will drag fish that it does not like and feed them to the Haddoni carpet.

Yeah I used to have a Wild Fire clown. Like stated above they are very aggressive. Mine would bite the **** outta me anytime I place my hand in the tank. The one time I was getting my magnafloat and the bugger shot out of his nem to bite me and launched himself out of the tank landing on the floor. I was shocked. I mean I seen fish jump out of a tank but never to bite someone. Any way I ended up trading him in. Good job on getting it to pair up with the haddoni. When I had mine it would jump from BTA to LTA but only used the carpet once or twice. Now I got a pair of saddlebacks.

Well I made the decision to trade in the maroon tonight. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring him to a LFS this weekend and pick up a Fire Clown from the original batch.

I noticed today that the maroon was missing sections of his dorsal fin.
When I worked on the tank tonight the Fire Clown got hyper aggressive. Shades of AquaReeferMan's experience...the fire clown jumped out of the tank and bit my sweatshirt!! :0

I think the best solution is to find the maroon a home and try for a mated pair of fires as Orion suggested.

So AquaReerferMan, do the bites hurt?!

If I remember correctly I should try and find a slightly LARGER fire clown to add to the tank- which will eventually morph to female...does this sound correct?

doesnt matter on the size, hopefully, as whichever one is bigger and ore aggressive will become the female and the other will become male

As far as size, I'd say to go with the biggest size difference you can. If you get two clowns the same size, there may not be a more passive and more aggressive one to decide which is male and which is female. They may just fight untill one is dead. When I got both of my clowns I thought I got two different size ones untill I got home and realized the second one I just purchased was the same size as the other. They fought for days and they were both beaten up pretty badly (to the point where I almost returned one because the fighting was so bad). If there is a very clear size difference there COULD (not 100%) be very little to no fighting. just my 2 cents.

Well since I started this thread my Haddoni decided to take a walk...

I was away for Thanksgiving and I had decided to keep the lights off...when I got back the carpet was where it should be...but after the lights went back on he went a walkin across the back of the rockwork.

Ironically...he walked over the top of my rockwork and right into the center of the new aquascaping, where he's been ever since... :D
