Seems to be common sense to some but I refused to believe because I would watch him for hrs and never saw him nip at my ZOA's. After playing the chemical game I gave up and made a new tank for my filefish,, after less than a week my long gone colonies are reappearing!!!!!!! NEVER TRUST A FILEFISH

This is common knowledge.

They are very subtle eaters and most people never see it happen before their eyes.

Ive had one mow down most of my collection... in an attempt to clear out hundreds of aiptasia. After he cleared the tank of Aipts, he took out the most expensive polyps first (of course ).

My brother had a bicolor angel with similar characteristics, only it preferred LPS.:thumbdown

The gambles we take with fish and corals..... :headwally: hehe

Yes sir.. As I stated in the post.. Common knowledge., yet I refused to believe and once I buy a animal that has been yanked from some ocean I feel obligated to care for it for life. There are some who have filefish that don't eat ZOA's.. Its the gamble I took and now wish others to know.

You can always care for it for life while it's in your sump ;)

I'm glad I came across this. The LFS has a couple filefish that I was interested in for a real low price. I think I will pass now. Thanks for sharing.

Use peppermint shrimp for aiptasia instead

Pretty hit and miss, I think there are some vendors that sell "100% aiptasia eating peppermint shirmp" but they will never clear them out as fast as a filefish. That is, unless you buy a crap ton.:worried:

People have problems with peppermint shrimp as well, I've personally had one eat the crown off of my coco worm and mess with my LPS. Overall I'd rather catch one fish, opposed to a bunch of potentially nuisance shrimp.
