Film on water

I've noticed when I do water changes that I have a film on top of my water. Any ideas how to get rid of this or is it normal?
60 gal, fish only, aqua max skimmer, fluvall g6 filter.

I just lay it flat on the surface then flip it over and use the other side. It picks up the film and you toss it. Don't let it sink.

Dissolved organic compounds. A skimmer takes care of this but if you don't have a skimmer, aim a power head at the surface of the water. If you find it accumulating in an area on the surface, use a paper towel as mentioned above.

Just to be clear, you mean the water in the tank right? Not the new water that you mix up for the change?
It's funny that you would only notice it when you do a change, unless that's the only time you get a good look at the surface cause you have a canopy or something.

yes, it is the water on the surface of the tank. I do have a skimmer, the Aquamaxx HOB XC, and let me tell you, that thing picks up all kinds of stuff. I pointed the power heads toward the surface and am going to watch it for a few days. may have to try the paper towel trick.
