Socks should be changed about weekly depending on your tank load. After a few weeks of using socks you will begin to see how dirty and how often to wash. You cant just rinse as you are leaving nitrates in the sock and then putting them back into your tank. Put them in a washing machine with a cap of bleach and with extra rinse.
 
I wash my socks and they come back looking perfectly brand new . Here is what I do:
1. Turn inside out
2. Rinse and ring out loose detritus.
3. Wash with soap and bleach. I use about 3/4 Cup for 6 socks.
4. Wash another cycle with just bleach.
5. Wash 1 more cycle with just water.
6. Dry them for about 20 minutes then air dry the rest and turn them back to the right way.

The socks are perfectly clean when done.
 
idk if soap is a good idea or even needed. I'm sure it is working for you others wise you wouldn't have posted this and I'm not saying your wrong, but I wouldn't use soap. The bleach is killing everything.
 
The soap frees all the particles up. Idk I have been doing this way for a year and a half and haven't had an issue. If your worried about it just use an extra Rinse cycle. But like I said I haven't had any issues.
 
What's going on with this? I don't run a sock in my
Sump but I do like to siphon from the display tank to the sump through a sick between water changes.
 
Hope fully we get this moving. I emailed the company as the thread wasnt being updateed for a quote for a 100 micron felt sock that's about 4"wide and 8" in length and this is the quote I got :10 @ $3.500 EA,
50 @ $1.530 EA,100 @ $1.350 EA,
Not many folks are interested in the 100 micron, but with the price of $1.35 I think they cant go wrong :).
 
I been busy lately. Did you tell the they were the square socks. I emailed them and they said they could get them made but need more info. Seems like they only stock round ones. Since there is enough interest I'll buy the box of 50. 100 micron felt socks 4 x 14. And then we can figure out distribution

I am more interested in the

Part#: 21WB10 - PE100P3P ( PE ) * 50/CTN
Which is 8" in length instead of 14". The 14" is to long for my sump so I would have to back out of that one. Are you talking about the plastic rim that is square? circle works great for me.
 
I must have been confused. Someone asked me if I could quote the 4x8 square ones the eshopps uses. Sorry about that. I can use either let me put a list together and see what everybody wants. Then we. An all get a better idea of what to order
