Finally, 92 Gallon Corner Tank Build (Pic Heavy)

I just noticed that your return line comes in thru the canopy. Are you sure you want to go this route? Any time you want to remove the canopy, you'll have the return line to deal with.

Thanks gus for the compliments, Im pretty sure thats route Im going as far as the canopy is concerned, I am going to work out a pulley sytem to be able to have the canopy completely lifted with very little effort.

I did my fresh water test today.

I had no leaks any where thankfully, however after some time of trying to balance out the two drains and one return with the ball valves I finally got it, but my overflow was way too strong, not to mention noisey. I had the niagara falls in my overflow.

So after another trip to HD and a genius suggestion by my partner in crime we decided to raise both the back up drain & the dureso drain, this way thw water level was raised silencing my mini intank national land mark. Sometimes the smallest things escape you.

I checked the sump, I still have 3-4 inches in there after the back syphon when the pump gets shut off. Now before I drain it and start to prepare for the actual setup of Live sand & Liverock, is there anything else I should do, check, add, before I move on, anything I may have overlooked (aside from the canopy issue, I am going to address that)??? Please help, offer your opinions and insight, I'm appealing to the veterans here, chime in please, TY!!

You will be very happy that you went with the 250w. I loved my 92 mixed reef. I hope you don't mind (if you want let me know and I will remove them) here are a few pics when I had mine setup. It will give you some ideas how I had my lighting. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

That is a really nice tank set up you had there, very nice, shame you dont have it up any longer!! I love that one spot foxface, it is one of my fav fish & will definitely be inmy92 as well. As far as questions is concerned, is there anything you think Im missing as you have had experience with this tank??

Have you thought about an ATO? Its not the type of tank that you want to be carrying around water jugs to fill. As you know its design makes it challenging to say the least.

Bernie the setup is looking great. I can't believe I didn't see this thread before. That T5 lighting will really be helpful if you want to do sunrise/sunset effect once you've got the main halides in. Are you going to be going for the 14k Phoenix?

nismo_32- I alre4ady have a quick disconnect on the return, I dont know exactly what you mean, however I imagine it is the ability to disconnect the return should I need. I installed a ball valve to close the return and a union valvle to be able to disconnect it. I beleive that is what you men, if not let me know and give me a few details please.

flfireman1- I have though of the ATO, however I seriously do not think I have the space for it, because of the complications of this tank in space and the sheer size and space that my skimmer takes up. I plan on having a manual top off unit. My Idea (at least I think so far): On the other side of this wall is my kitchen, I intend on purchasing my RoDi unit and run it behind the wall through a small hole in the back of the cabinets and through the wall into the tank & have it controlled by a valve that I open manually allowing the tankto be topped off & closed manually. It's not an ATO but I figure it'll get the job done & I eliminate any failures that it may have, only failure can human, mine, so we'll see how that goes! Let me know if you have any better suggestions because I am open to them. I am not 100% on this idea.

ReefWreak-Thanks Eric, I appreciate, it has been alot of work & going over every detail over and over, several trips to HD for 1 lil item over and over. Its been alittle tougher since the board has been sooo slow and not much input on the thread, but Im glad you found it now. Uhm, yeah, I already order my lights, they should be here next week, I ordered 250W HQI w Icecap ballast, 14K phoenix, Im excited about them, you & mike really talked me into them!! I am looking forward to using the T5s for the sunrise & sunset effect, I have new extra blue bulbs, butIm waiting til the Halides get here to see if I want all actinic on the t5s or if I want to keep them half blue and half white, I'll decide once I have the pheonixs & see what they look like together. they already seem pretty blue at 1/2 & 1/2.

how about a quick disconnect on the return??? just in case.
Julio I think he's using an insump pump- so should be easy to disconnect and connect.
As far as the tank great job- excellent work. Just one little thing-
I HATE THAT PURPLE PRIMER LOL.
But that is one beautiful tank and craftmanship.

"Wow your tank makes me want to get a corner! Its coming great!! Can't wait to see some LR there! Good job!" -matities23

Its taken me a while to update this thread because I had lost my camera, in there we a few pics of the build. Since the last update, I covered the back w black panels, got my 250w MH, Pheonix 14k & installed them, I also added a moonlight & fans to the top to suck out some of the warm air. I then aquascaped & started the fun stuff... All those pics were lost, but here is the current status, Music please....
