hi all, just thought i'll tag along on this thread. i've been battling bryopsis for a long time too in my frag tank.
once a week i used to take out all the frag plugs just to pluck out the chunk of bryopsis that are choking the zoa frags. and because i've been disturbing the frags so frequently, they have been growing really slowly.
after reading this thread, i decided to try it out. i started dosing another magnesium additive (aquaz, local brand) that i have always been using and after dosing the whole bottle, nothing happened.
then i went out and bought the kent marine tech m and started raising my mg lvls gradually. once mg lvl was raised to 1500, the bryopsis all turned translucent the next day!
however the snails in the tank doesn't seem to want to touch the translucent bryopsis.. so if they are left alone would the translucent bryopsis just rot away?
during this period, some of my zoa colors faded or started becoming brown and it might have been because i raised mg too quickily. i've seen my friend's zoa/sps tank bleached out after she accidently raised it by 400ppm 1 night.
i also have a few strands of residual chaetos in the tank and they were all not affected.
during this period of time i also started dosing vit c agressively as i was trying to save some melting frags that i had bought from a friend. i suspect i had overdosed for the tank volume as the water started become chalky (bacteria bloom).
i just did a water change and cleaned out the tank walls. will try and take some photos and upload soon. yay! its finally gone!! (i hope)
