bart - phew.... close one.

Now some more fake build shots as I can't show you the progress I would actually be making if I could.

I know that stand for the display is missing, I will include it next time I update.

Know this sketchup crap must be getting boring but its all I got so show. Enjoy

oh no the sketchup saga must continue. what materials will be used for PFO fixtures? how will you be able to access your display from front or rear?

Tom, can I suggest some outdoor activities, or perhaps a few visits to a therapist? j/k...love the drawings...but dude, imagine how much dough you could make if you spent all that effort on the stock market!

Don't worry Bart... those are just late night rantings. I'm 5 hours ahead so it was 5am for me when I posted those pictures. I am thinking some more powder coated steel would be nice and I think I'm going to use actuators to lift the entire canopy 20" into the ceiling. How's that for fance schmancy stuff. Still working out the logistics behind that but I'm getting somewhere.

jonathan... I'm worries about myself to. I have been over here in England for as long as I care to be so I spent yesterday just working on those drawings to get my mind of things. Therapy would be nice, could I get some of those sweet meds your rocking out? Yeah I should refocus my efforts but I need to plan out anyways and I have nothing but time right now. hahaha, thaks for the concern.

Now you're just showing off. I mean making pipes curve in sketch-up. Wow, thats the advanced class. Keep em coming, I love it. The lift sounds cool if you have room in the ceiling. They make them to lift plasma TVs. I bet you can use it upside down to pull the canopy up.

Hey, How come mine didn't come out that good?

Ha Ha Ha...
I realize this comment is late, but holy crap that was funny! I laughed out loud! Props to you, pcostanzo.

thirschmann - If your tank turns out half as good as your drawings, you're gonna have a killer system! I like your most recent fish list, but as you know many of those listed are not the easiest species to keep. I'm sure you'll have success, however!

pcostanzo - :D maybe just a little bit. Don't have to much left to sketch up anymore. I am looking into my actuator options, I have a few ideas, just have to figure out which one is ideal.

kodyboy - Thanks, I am still within the budget I allocated when I started this thing so I'm on track so far. Nor finished yet though.

eric - I know you feel my pain bro... frustrating.

dudester - Hope it will with all this planning. The fish will be a challenge in the long run but I have not had a problem keeping some harder fish thus far in my smaller tank and look forward to the challenge of husbandry in my next tank..

So i finally got bored of sketchup and decided that I was going to build a wood replica of my tank after dinner tonight. Took me about 45 minutes and it helps put things in perspective. It is about a 1.5" to short (height wise) but otherwise came out pretty much exactly how its going to end up. 36" stand and all.

That's me in the back, peaking out, I am 5' 10" so the challenges of working on this thing are clear.

Coming from you that scares me a little bit jonathan. The problem is I seriously have a hobby.... I don't think you all understand how bored I am over here. After a 2 months stuck at my parents house I've seen about all I want to of England for the time being.

Don't usually have this much time on my hands so I'm getting a little stir crazy. Maybe I should try to track down some English reefers....

:D Well that's a damn good idea if you ask me...and you could take a little trip to see some German and Italian tanks too. I know I would bail on he family within about 3 days...you've been at it for 2 months? I would poke my eyes out!

You will love the 30" height of the tank, it might be a pain in the beginning but it give the fishies some room to swim around. If I could do anything over with mine it would going to 30" instead of 24". Can't wait to see your tank progress. :)

jonathon - I'm still relatively new at this RC thing, what's the best way to get in touch with some English reefers? And yes, I'm looking forward to moving on.

chetm2 - awesome, finally something positive about my height choice. Looking forward to see how it comes out as well :D

kodyboy - I'm a handy kinda guy. Plus its made out of the interlocking siding wood so it went together quick.... And its not as solid as it looks. haha

Yea same here i was either getting a 180 or 210. People kept saying the extra 6'' on the 210 makes such a big difference. So yea cant wait to see how the 30'' looks when my tanks all done. Btw dude i seriously cannot wait to see your tank finished. Hey why dont you get some tangs and throw them in there tomorow lollllll :bounce1:. Keep up the good work man

I don't really know. I guess I would look up an LFS, go there, and ask about local clubs. You could probably hook up with some reef keepers fairly quickly.
