Finally both pairs breeding in the same tank..

To make a long story short, I had two breeding pairs in separate tanks. We moved and I had to place both pairs in my frag tank. Well the perc pair started breeding again about a month ago and the black occe started a couple of weeks ago. Percs have been through two cycles and the occe pair just laid a second nest. Both pairs producing eggs that have hatched. The tank is 4ft long and each pair is hosts their own anemone on opposite ends of the tank. Very cool to have this happen for me.

I've raised the percs before, but they take so long to grow out. I may just try a couple of batches of the black occe. I doubt I'd want to go through the hassle of shipping.
Travis we'll have to set up a time when you are in town. Not much of a reef, but lots of equipment to see.

That's what I like BTW, I'm still surprised the way the Perc juvies came out. Are you?

I think that is just the way it goes with percs. I don't know what you were expecting, but I was happy to get them to a decent size. I think they will color up as they get larger so who knows.

I was extremely surprised that you bred your Percs, and few of them came out with very many stripes. They aren't much smaller than most of the clowns that I see with full stripes. So it's either going to happen fast, or not at all.

I don't know if that is the case with percs. I know that once in other tanks, they have gained some stripage and more black. I think being in small quarters keeps them from developing true adult coloration, but who knows.
