Finally joined the MH club! (Lots of pics)

I see no pictures on this page so far Greg, this is your first SPS journal code violation so we'll let it slip this time mate as long as you correct the fault asap............... :)

What do you think of the WP-40 pump, i like them but they require a quick clean every 3 weeks or so as the flow drops off drastically i've found. Same with my two WP-25's, the Tunze 6095 i have can go months without a clean so you do get what you pay for and me being lazy i'd use all Tunze if i had the extra cash.

Haha! You are absolutely correct! I will happily rectify that following this post👍. This is actually the first tank thread ive ever done so thanks for letting me off with a simple warning!! Lol.

I absolutely love the WP-40. I have never had a better pump as far as water movement is concerned. I keep it running on else mode, similar to reef crest on the mp's, and I love the randomness of the currents it creates. My favorite part about that mode is in the evening just before the lights go out it cycles to one of the wave modes and it gently rocks the water creating about a 2" "wave" at the water surface. I do agree with you about keeping it clean though. After about a month as the coraline builds up the drop off in water movement becomes very noticeable. I pull it out about every month and run it overnight in vinegar and its good as new. It does become a pain in the neck and you would think such a strong pump would not drop in performance so drastically over a little crud! Your right though, you do get what you pay for! Ive never owned a tunze but have always heard great things. I think im going to move the koralia from my display to my frag tank and replace it with a tunze. What model would you recommend for my 125 to go with the wp40?

Looks good so far!
I'd still love to see a shot of the mh rig... If it's worth documenting..

I completely forgot you wanted pics of the fixture!! Here ya go ImageUploadedByTapatalk1399858832.468808.jpg

Once its off tomorrow ill take some pictures so you can actually see it. The lights are too blinding for my camera lol

You get the Hawkins from a reputable place? That guy is super green. It very well may be a Hawkins but the system might have had high nutrients.

Nice hawkins and looks like it's on the hated ora black plug. Hawkins is a green coral with blue growth under strong light.

Just went back and looked at pics of mine when I got it and yes it looked very similar. I've just always had more blue in it.

Yes I bought it from a very reputable lfs. Its definitely on that awful black plug! I is a little on the green side but that pic was from the first 20 minutes of being in my system and yes the tank it come from was very high in nutrients I actually asked the guy at the store because I too thought it a little on the green side

Its been a while since I updated this thread because I havent really had anything worth posting until now. I took my old aquaticlife fixture apart and retrofitted 4 of the t5s to the metal halide fixture. I put 4 actinic plus bulbs to it and boy did it add some nice pop to the tank. I was really struggling with the lack of blue light but im thoroughly satisfied now. Heres a shot of the whole thing running. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1403630717.653876.jpg
