Finally my tank has water, LR and sand in it.

Sorry for crappy pictures, but I had to post some pictures before I got it all cleaned up and looking nice. What do you think of my aquascaping? Me and my wife done it together, first tank she really wanted me to set up.

It has been a long time coming by getting pieces here and there but she know about what it would cost to get it going. When we got the rock and sand in it, she was like when are you going to get this fish and when for this coral...

I cured the new Fiji rock and the Totoka for about 3 weeks. The Totoka was from a club members tank that had been setup for a while and I only really had to cure 50 lbs of Fiji so that went good. I have been collecting coral in my frag tank, waiting to get this setup and going. Hopefully in a week or two I can put a couple of clowns and my toadstool and finger leather in. I have some LPS and SPS for down the road.

Thanks for the complements.

Well, I might as well make this my build thread. The first thing that I did was setup a 150 gallon a day RO/DI system from BRS. I have a 45 gallon brute with a float switch for collection and a 32 gallon brute on wheels for mixing and water changes. Have a Mag 5 and 200 watt heater for my mixing container.

Next I built my sump from a new 55 gallon tank. I didn't have many choices where to buy the glass for the baffles but it was still cheaper then having one built or buying one, and I was able to make my sump the way I wanted it.

Tank is a 90 gallon Allglass Reef Ready tank. I have Mag 9.5 setup for my return and to give me a slow flow for my fuge. I also have 3 K3s for my tank.

I had to move my 55 gallon freshwater tank so I would be able to but my sump under my stairs and be closer to electricity. I think it worked out pretty good.

Before freshwater testing.

nice setup
starting date?

I have been collecting parts and equipment for about 8 months now. But the official start up when I got the LR and sand in tank was 1/1/10 at 10:00 PM.:thumbsup: Still have alot more to do. Need to drain my stock tub where I cured my LR and start on the canopy. Hopefully today I will work on that....

Here are some better pics of the aquascaping. I added a little more LR, water was clear and I cleaned the glass.

Everythingooks nice. What skimmer you going with? What type of corals are you going to keep.

Thanks, I have a XP-2000 Super Reef Cone by Octopus skimmers. I was one of the preorders and it sat in the box for a couple of months until I got my LR and started curing it. I really like this skimmer but the pump does have a mum to it, but so does my Mag 9.5 return pump. It doesn't bother me or the wife so it is golden.

It is going to be a mixed reef. I have some of my corals in my frag tank now, I have been collecting for a month or so. I already have a couple of nice leathers, some LPS: hammer, frogspawn and torch. Also have some SPS: Couple of milipora frags, 2 monti caps and some small acros, and a couple of Zoo rocks. I would love to find a small milipora colony to be my main center piece.

You might be able to tell, but the new pump does produce tons of bubbles.

No, I have a union and the return nozzles are set just below the water line in the tank. I only get about 2 to 3 gallons drain back when I turn the power off.

Looks awesome, i think it is safe to say your stand is secured with all the screws show in the pics. I will be following, keep posting pics
