I looked into it, but open source has pros and cons....and one of the cons I feared was support. I mean if you get in a bind, there are not too many people that have this yet. Have you had any issues? Have you had to rely on others to support? If positives on these I would consider upgrading to one as my AC Jr does not do wifi

The support was one of the main reasons I went with the RA. I did a lot of research before deciding on the RA and the Community (Forum) and owner Roberto were a BIG selling factor for me. I had no intentions on doing any programming of the controller but from the positive feed back on the forum I knew if I did need support it was only a click away. My assumption was put to the test less than 2 weeks after installing the RA. I wanted to add a function to the feed mode so I posted on the forum and within an hour Roberto had posted the revised code for me. Couple days later I needed another code revision and again the code was revised and posted within an hour.
Again, I can't say enough good things about the controller,the cost and the support.

The basic controller is $219 and comes with one temperature probe and one pH probe for out-of-the-box monitoring. It also comes with 8 ports that you can use to control your equipment. In addition to that, it comes with 2 float switches for you to implement your own Auto Top Off.

Real time clock
Battery backup for clock settings
Thumb joystick with center select push-button
PH monitoring
3 temperature probe ports
2 float switch ports

The preloaded code is factory configured to control ATO, Moonlights, Daylights, Actinic Lights, Wavemakers, Heater and Return Pump. It is also configured to dim your LED lights for a sunrise/sunset effect throughout the day.
The Wifi attachment is $109.
From there it really depends on what accesories you want/need
