Thanks Marc for the info reguardless. Sometimes it takes anothers viewpoint to cover every angle.:)

WOW!

What a huge difference!!!!

I got my 10K XM's today ( replacing the 20's )

I have started acclimating everything to the increased PAR. I cut down the Halide burn to 3 hours and will be adding a half hour every 3rd day untill I am back up to 8 hours ( 15 days total )

Its going to take some getting used to with the new lamps, the others were a lot dimmer than I had realized.

The 10K XM have a really nice crisp white appearence to them. I hope to see some increased growth rates once everything gets adjusted. Now on to the topoff unit. I will get some updated pics soon.

Ahem...

How about a before and after of the tank with the 20,000K and the 10,000K now?

Raw Comparison

Raw Comparison

Here is a "RAW" comparison shot of the tank with dual 250 XM20K's and Dual XM10K's, in both pictures the 2-95watt VHO actinics are on. Both of theses pictures are using the exact same default camera setting ( hence the glare ) but figured it would be best to for a comparison in intensity. I though ahead a few months ago, and took a default picture before all the changes ( BB, re-aquascape, etc... ):)

Ummm,,, for some reason the pictures not showing up in the thread?!?!

should be able to see it if you click the link, let me know if you cant. Wonder why its not in the post though?

Here is a better shot of how everything has shaped up after the BB switch and now the new lights. This picture has been edited for glare etc... and gives a much better idea of how it looks in person.

Looks good man,
You gonna love BB with sps's , Now you can juice up the flow . Believe me they will love it , I did the same in my 120 and the growth increased drasticly .

Keep up the good work ,
Joe

P.S.
How's the big piggie doing ?

The comparison link doesn't work at all. It seems to reload the current thread (this page). Wierd.

The last picture looks nice! Still a bit spooky, but that could be your avatar. ;)

That clam is a keeper!

I am really liking the BB setup much more. The increased flow alone has already proved to be VERY positive ( even in such a short time )

Eh,,,the toe still isnt back to 100% but its getting there!!

I will try to get it to work, just give me a little time.

That clam is a keeper!

I have had that Squammy since it was 1"

New Equipment!

New Equipment!

Thought I would do a bit of an update now that I have a new piece of equipment.

A few weeks ago, I finally decided I was tired of adding top off water by hand. I felt most importantly it was keeping the SG very unstable ( seeing as how I lost aprox 1-2 gallons a day ) so I figured a steady flow from an auto top off would help keep things better in check. I got a single switch sump mount unit, and have to say it was as easy as could be to install. I had it mounted and running within minutes. I drilled a hole in the wall behind the tank and ran the tub through it to the room on the other side, where a 45 gallon tank holds the RO-DI water to replenish the display. This gives me over 3 full weeks of constant replenishment without my intervention.

Here is the unit

Few Updated Inhabitant Shots!

Here is a couple updated shots, since the light switch back to 10K's

Someone mentioned how much they liked my Squamosa, so here is a close up of him. He is my oldest inhabitant. I have had him nearly 5 years.

Newest Fish:

I got this little guy ( I stress little he is barely the size of a half dollar ) to do a bit of housekeeping in the display. I am unsure weither he will be a permenant member of the system, or temp. untill he gets a bit bigger. I will have to wait and see.

Do you have any sort of safety switch or safeguard of some sort in case the float switch gets stuck in the add water mode?
Nick

I really like your tank, and it matches your avatar so nicely. Both are very 'dark'. The tang looks like he stumbled into the wrong neighborhood. ;)

Funny you should mention that,,,I have been thinking along thoses lines, and havent decided yet what is the best steps to take.

Thanks,

The tanks not Dark at all ( Though I get the pun ) I actually have to set the ISO manually on my camera to cut the glare down now with theses 10K's
If not it would just be a bright blur.

Awesome tank! I really do like that clam

Thanks again!!:)
