Finding single Sps polyps around the tank!!?

In the past month, since I added my birdsnest coral (im not actually sure it is birdsnest, but it is an sps and was sold as birdsnest) to the tank, I have found about 5 single polyps around the tank. They look EXACTLY like polyps of my birdsnest. All of the polyps are on areas of rock that were directly next to( within an inch) of the coral. Encore I rescaped the tank. All of the polyps have a hard tan base that can be seen when they retract, just like the birdsnest. AnywAy, they look and behave like it, so I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
So, have you ever heard of an Sps coral doing this? Splitting off single polyps to grow into a new coral? I'm kind of confused about the whole situation, so any input is greatly appreciated!
This is an old picture, so you can see the 'mother coral' in the. Background.
PS...don't anybody say its monjano...IT is NOT!
Thanks!

Number of tentacles is wrong for galaxea, but correct for pocillipora.

Can you post a current pic of the mother colony?

No, I have a Galaxea too, which also drops polyps on occasion. Totally different. I doubt it is aiptasia because the tips are rounded and green. In a different thread, someone said m coral might be a pocci... I will look into that again.
Here's a bad picture:rolleyes: sorry most of the polyps are not extended because I just had the lights off. I wouldn't call it a colony though:p

Your b-nest looks like a pocillipora to me. I had a green one 8 inches in diameter that dropped numerous polyps or spawned. It was kinda cool when they first started showing up, but after 50 it was a real pain. They will sting other corals. Get the kalk paste ready

I agree with it being the pocci spawned. I have a green pocci that did exactly that. I have four or five 'mini' colonies growing around my tank now including a couple on the overflow.

I guess that means its liking my tank :D I was worried this coral wouldn't do well because its mu first time keeping Sps... Anyway, I guess I'll take action now to start removing them.

+1, happened and continues to. No worries, easy to prune with frag cutters.

well, i would hope that is not the case. it has good color and great extension most of the time. i love how fluffy and soft it looks!

Wow... The buds are growing so fast! The first one is up to seven polyps all ready. I wish my big frag would grow that fast. Lol
