Fire At Swamp Bottoms

oh my god I just came from swamp bottoms where there was a fire. poor tony had a fire over his tank caused by a light. things do not look pretty out there. I was wondering if anyone could think of away to help him out. I feel bad because tony loves his fish and is just a hard working guy like the rest of us. he said the main damage was from the foam that the firemen used to put out the fire. It got into his fish tanks.

no but there was a good amount of damage in the back from the fire. the biggest problem was the foam getting into the fish tanks, which cause the fish to have no oxygen. there was some fish loss. I am not sure how bad he is going to be. I got there just as the firemen were done putting out the fire.

I just got off the phone with Tony.

There was a short in one of his lighting units, and it caused a plastic / noxious fume electrical fire. He lost most of his wall unit live stock and a few tanks as well as drygoods due to fire department action. Mostly smoke and minor water damage, but he will recover. Saddly, there is not insurance policy for the buisness to cover livestock losses. Lets all hope for the best !

Tony seemed to be in good spirits (as best as to be assumed under the circumstances) and he said that he will still remain inbuisness after some clean up and time to see what the final damages are from teh fire department chemical foam that they used to put out the fire.

Today we had a fire at swamp bottom. One of the lights over one of our tanks shorted out and caught fire. It was not pretty and still isn't. Stephentown and berlin fire co. responded, they did an excellent job and we commend them. The fire was toxic from burning plastic. So it did more smoke damage then any real burning damage. The foam that they use to put the fire out got mainly in the fish system. It is envirormentally safe foam(soap). The main problem is , is that it removes the oxgen from the water. We sufferred some fish loses and dry good loses but all in all the fish and coral faired well mostly we had smoke damage. We will need a new paint job. Thank you for all your concerns and offers of help. We will be open tommorrow at our regular time DON"T MIND THE MESS!! Oh yeah also happy fathers day to all you dad's.

Tony
