seems they are considered aggressive? and they are a varient of a rose bubble yes? and if so, rose also aggressive?

I want a rare, interesting, colorful anenome for my tank, fire tip seems to be the ticket, but I dont want to regret it when I lose a fish or something from it... I mean, what am I in for if I get one?

and long as I have you all, any other variants of anenomes that should be noted, Im setting up a tank of rare oddities :p

Could you post a pic of your anemone? There is one species called a Hellfire anemone. They aren't the same thing as a rose anemone (Entacmea quadricolor). No, rose anemones aren't particularly aggressive. They will sting corals and might possible eat some weak fish, but generally do fine in a reef tank.

No linky; but as far as I can tell from a Google image search, it looks like nothing more than a particularly healthy RBTA or a color variant of same, in which case the care and compatibility would be the same.

edit: guess reef central censors the links...

google flame tip anemone and its the first result, if you care to see it

see if this picture works...

I dont have that lol. the picture is why I WANT it.

ok, heres the full story. LFS got 2 in, well what he thinks are 2. who knows, its a variant AFAIK, so chances of it being THAT vibrant are a toss up. anyway... the point is, people said they were going to QT them till they could be trusted. what kind of risks could such an anenome pose to me and/or my inhabitants? I mean, clowns live in these things, which I know clowns are unique for, but would they harm other fish potentially?

It's just a BTA that has a different genotype that produces a vibrant orange and red. Most BTA's aren't too aggressive, they can move around and sting corals causing harm and death to those corals, but I've never lost a fish to a BTA.

ah ok, typicly once they find somewhere they like, they SHOULD stay put though? they wont go hunting or anything lol.

now where do I find one that looks like that!

I didn't think you had one:p

btas don't hunt..they grab what ever comes to their tentacles. Yes, when it finds a spot it likes..it will stay put.

Folks,

Discussing unusual color morphs in the discussion areas have historically gone south very quickly when vendors, trades, frags, etc., become part of the thread.

Please refrain from such activity in the discussion area or the thread gets closed, removed, etc., which no longer serves anyone.

Thanks.
