Firefish disappeared

Havent seen him in about 10 days but also havent seen any signs of his demise, any ideas?

Overflow or floor maybe? If you have a cleanup crew or serpent star it may have died and become food

I had one ride a carpet wave almost 10 feet away from the tank once.

Those suckers can jump, and get good distance to. Check behind furniture anywhere in the vicinity.

yup check overflow, is the tank open top?
ALSO, if the fish was being harassed in the least bit or with other boisterous fish it will hide and may not return until the coast is clear. had 2 hide for 4 weeks.

+1 on jumpers, they can launch themselves really REALLY far.

I did a search around the tank bout only about 2 feet out, I will expand the search. I had a screen over the tank for months and months and then left it off one day while the screen was drying after I rinsed it off and realized the tank is much more enjoyable to view with the screen off every time I walk by it. I added a tang about 2 weeks ago and the fire fish was out for the first several days but perhaps is in hiding. I really appreciate all the ideas!

Any pets? If it went carpet diving, it may very well have been eaten by dog or cat...or child :O

Mine vanished for days and now only comes out in the morning. Kind of annoying I like watching him swim around. This happened when the kole tang went into the tank. Hopefully he will start being out more.

Tangs are pretty busy fish and can often drive more peaceful species into hiding. A tang could certainly even spook it enough to make it jump. Is this a smaller tank?
