Firefish missing ray

I have had (3) firefish for 3 months now. (2) stay on one side most of the time, the other on the opposite side of the reef.Today, I found mosy of his dorsal "ray" missing. If I put him in quarantine- will it grow back?? Thanks, Dawn

I would think it should grow back, but its not a good sign. Probably keep it our permanently, the other two may be ganging up on it.

Firefish are notorious for reducing their numbers by warfare. If he is the chosen victim, best get him healthy and regrown and try to trade him for a blenny or some such. You may have a pair trying to bond and he's odd man out.

I've had this problem before --- firefish really dont like eachother like pics show. The most dominant fish will bite off the other's dorsal --yes it will regrow perfecty, but I would remove the fish and put it in an ecplise 3 gallon if you have to cuz it will be killed
