Firmware update is timing out.

After many, many attempts and many fails. I am posting my problem because Im getting really frustrated.

Ive rebooted several times and have even unplugged the Apex numerous times as well. In the end I still get the same Error.

Firmware file load complete...
Calculating Apex Start Checksum Vector
Calculating Apex Start Checksum Vector complete...
The controller address is: 192.168.2.2

Operation failed with the following error information:

Waiting for input from Apex: timed out

Every time it stops at sending user name!
Any help would be GREATLY appreaciated.

Reboot your PC in "Safe Mode with Networking" then try again. Google that phrase for instructions on using Safe Mode.
 
RussM- I just tried several times while rebooted in "safe mode with networking" and still the same timeout error. Im really scratching my head on this one.
 
Hardwired all the way PURPLE!!! Thats whats got me going nuts, everything works great except for the firmware update. The unit even took the webpage update, just wont take the firmware update. Its really starting to bug me. Ive tried to update from several computers as well. So it def communicates, it just times out on the update....ugh!!!
 
One trick you can try is to unplug your controller before starting the firmware upload. Once you start the upload, let it time out once or twice, then plug your controller in. When the controller starts, it initially comes up in bootloader mode. This will sometimes trick the loader into "seeing" the controller.
 
Are you saying unplug the display from the control module? Or unplug the main from the EB8 to the wall socket. So many plugs on these things im just trying to clarify..lol

i believe he means unplug power to the base module-- base module being the module with the ethernet port. if its timing out and trying to reconnect again, just remove power from the base module, wait a few seconds, and connect again. it might work
 
Unplug the cable(s) running between the Apex base initial and the EB8(s). Also unplug the 12 volt adapter if you use one. Don't worry about disconnecting he display. Then do as Alan described.
 
Ok thanks guys. Ill give it a try in first thing in the morning. Ive been working on this whole thing all day, initial set up, net configure, email configure, writing lots and lots of code....Im beat..lol. Ill let you all know how it turns out in the morning! Thanks again for all the quick responses.
 
Well Ive gone through all the steps that have been advised and still come up with the same error. Ive booted up in "Safe Mode with Networking" and tried, Ive unplugged the bus cable and tried while it was in boot mode. All with the same error in the end. This is getting beyond frustrating. Are there any more little tricks to try? I hope....
 
OK, we have to figure out what's conflicting with this. There's something on your network that is confusing the bootloader.

Can you do an 'arp -a' from the DOS prompt? Post the results here if you can. You're looking for something that has an IP address where one of the first 3 segments (octets) is different from your controller of 192.168.2.xxx.

There's the problem. What's the address of your Apex? Your PC? Your Gateway/Router?

Is the third octet of each "1"?
 
In the Apex Flash Utility, it is trying to send the firmware update to the router, correct? If you look at my original post up top.
 
Also I have to go through DynDns to get into the Apex...just thought Id put that out there too. Try to give you as much info as possable.
