First Albino Marine fish worldwide made in SA

there likes little vampires......if they bite other fish do they turn into them too? lol. really cool that you got albinos but these are a little creepy and i might have trouble sleeping at night with these in my house.

I am not too sure about those either. We want the most colorful fish available and now you try to take all the colors out. They look like they are sick. It's not DUI it's SUI (Swimming Under the Influence). But I bet they will sell for a lot and very quickly.

I think these are interesting. They are more beautiful, IMO, than naked clown or stubby clowns from ORA. Still, they are not for me. I love the natural shape clowns but with more interesting white pattern in the Picasso or Onyx clowns

rare means a lot. Macullochs clowns are an ugly black clownfish, they sell for 5K a pair. thse are much nicer and rarer. from a breeding perspective, the possibilities with these clowns are endless.

They are not albino- they are amelanistic. They lack black but still retain some pigments,

Thanks for the clarification! I knew albino wasn't the right word but couldn't remember the correct one.

In regards to breeding, I wonder how useful these clowns will actually be. Unlike many color varieties that provide breeders an opportunity for interesting crosses. Only time will tell how one of these amelanistic clowns will breed and cross breed.

I do believe these clowns will allow for some interesting crosses, specially sine there are so many different color morphs within the ocellaris and percula species. But you are right, only time will tell what the outcome will be.

did this happen naturally or selective breeding

Albinism can only show up naturally. Which means just luck to get the right pair with a gen defect.

They are pretty spiffy if you ask me. There are some better pics on the MOFIB thread. They aren't quite so scary...lol Albinism is a naturally occurring phenomenon in the wild. I don't understand why people are saying they should be culled...

You are right, you are wrong.

They are amelanistic, but they are also albinos.
Read the thread on MOFIB, there is the exact explanation about albinism.

Although I am not saying they should be culled, I can understand it. This is pretty much a genetic imperfection - in that albinism doesn't portray any environmental advantages, and as already noted, often conveys many disadvantages. Its probably not a trait we would want to mix within captive-bred fishes.
