First Anemone!

I just got my first anemone. Its a Haitian Anemone. Right now its all bawled up and sitting on the rock i put it on except its upside down; foot to the lights. Its been in the aquarium for about 4 hours now. Is this normal? I just want to make sure its okay. Also when I moved it from the sand to the rock some slime came off with some sand stuck to it. The slime came from the base area. What is that and is it bad?

Also, this anemone was pink when I bought it and now it is blue with green tips! They change colors? Thanks for reading this.

Just as an FYI, this is not a host anemone. Your clown (ocellaris? percula?) very, very likely will not adopt it as its host. But anything could happen.

These anemones move around a lot so don't be surprised. This means you could potentially lose corals it touches as it travels. Also, you will need to cover your powerheads/intakes.

The anemone turns "blue" when it has expelled its water. It will turn pink again.

Keep your lighting good and your water good and cross your fingers. To be honest, it doesn't look too good right now but that could just be from the environment change. This also explains the slime. Furthermore, don't touch it. Leave it alone and let it pick a spot to settle. As I said, it will likely move around so it's fruitless to even try to put it where you want.

I wouldn't have chosen this anemone for your first. It probably won't give you the clown/anemone relationship you are looking for. If you can exchange it for a BTA, you will be much happier. Although, it is possible the BTA won't host your clown either. It's still not the natural host.

Bummer, okay. Right now the lights are off and the tentacles are completely inside it and its still not attached just in between two rocks in a crevice. And there is more slime where it has been sitting on the rock.
