First Anemone

Hi guys i have an 24gal Aquapod and was wondering what you guys think about a condy anemone being my first anemone. Right now i only have 1 false percula clown in there but not planing on putting to many more fish in itI plan on getting a 20" Nova Extreme Pro 6x18w T5 (thanks to xenon for the comparison, was about to buy a sunpod) So what do you guys think? And if not then what are some other options, i would really like an anemone (i really like frogspawns) in my tank and maybe some zoas.

condys aren't a host anemone. i'd go with a bta, i have one in a 29 biocube with a sunpod. my maroon went right into the bta. i've had percs go into a bta..so that should be fine. let's see what other ppl say

I would have to agree that a condy is not a good host for a false perc. I think a BTA would be ok for awhile but like most nems will outgrow a smaller tank. I would think a frogspawn would be ok too if you kept it trimmed back.
definetly any nem in a 24 is pushing it imo, but with just 1 fish it sounds like a nice little setup.

I would also advise you wait till the tank is 6months old, or better yet a year old before adding the Nem.

hmm... i got my tank on december 28 '07 so that makes it.....9 months old. Still to early you guys think? Also i have no idea on how to "trim" a frogspawn, what do you guys recommend i read to get informed on how to take care of anemones. Oh and what do you think about a zoa in my tank? I will try to get a pic up because i dont know if i have any place to put one if i get one, ill let you decide if their is.

i say go ahead with the nem, i added mine when my tanke was 3 months old and it's still doing fine. zoas are great, i love mine. i also have frogspawn, right now they are just 3 small frags. trimming, i believe, is just keeping the number of heads in check. frogspawn branches and if you keep the number of heads down then it won't get as large. info on nems, there should be something in one of the stickys that will take you to the right place.

great thanks for the info guys. Will my perc host in a frogspawn? If anyone has anything else to add please do so, im for anything.

I just read the article on liveaquaria.com about the frogspawn coral and it seems pretty hard to take care of, but i want an anemone so bad to add "something" different to my tank. I dont know im pretty confused.

get both.....as long as you keep the frogspawn's growth in check. get the bta first....let it settle in and find a place to hide it's foot. then add the frogspawn a safe distance from the bta. remember the frogspawn has sweeper tenticles that come out at night.
the reason some people say not to have anemones in small tanks is not because of size, especially with bta's, but becuase smaller tanks have a hard time keeping consistant parameters. keep up with waterchanges and water top-offs. you'll be fine

and just from my personal experience with this hobby.....the more you "mess" and "fuss" over your tank, the more problems you will have.
