First BTA

Snagged the orange and red BTA from DD last night. It will be in in the morning and be my first nem. Any tips or tricks on acclimation? Drip? Don't Drip? things of that nature. I've done a bit of research over about a year and I just want to make sure that I've got everything down and don't have anything else to worry about.

Looking forward to this little guy and hopefully he is as or more beautiful than he looked on the website! Been waiting for the better part of a year for my system to be ready for one of these! I'm very excited!

Drip 75-90 mins. Put a small piece of rock for it to attach. Less chance of it moving that way. I have 3 nems in the tank. All are attached to rocks I had placed during acclimation and have not moved an inch.

This BEAUTIFUL nem has arrived and is now being drip acclimated! The mouth is closed, color is great, and she is already attaching to a piece of rock rubble I had lying around! Pics soon to come

Going to post these pics under the pretense that I feel like this nem is doing good! Let me know if I'm wrong or if anything looks off!

This is during the drip acclimation:

After going into the tank (detached from the piece of live rock in my acclimation box but stuck right to the rock I set it next to):

This is coming home today:

It had moved from the original spot I put it. But, not too far. It's actually looking VERY happy and very inflated (at least I think so!). I broadcast feed my tank some selcon enriched mysis once or twice a week and tonight happened to be one of those nights. Seemed to grab a hold of mysis and do a good job of moving it toward it's mouth (which I'm having a hard time getting a view of, hoping that this is a good sign). Also, the sexy shrimp have found and taken a liking to the nem! I wish my clowns would do the same! But, I've read that that could take some time!

The thing seems to have doubled in size since being introduced yesterday; I'm wondering if it may be pondering a split this early? If that is the case, is it a good or a bad sign?

Thanks, RC! Let me know what you think on how I am doing with my first BTA!

A little update, it was hidden this morning. I feel like that should have happened already, but I'm a bit uneasy because it has been out and inflated since introducing.

Hey GT that's a nice looking BTA you have there. I'm also going through a similar situation, so I'll be watching this thread to see what the experts have to say. I added my first nem to my tank on Friday. Got a bicolor bubble tip, very good looking I must say. I also did the dip acclamation for about 70 mins then added it to the tank. The next day it disappeared, after looking very hard I found it hiding in a dark area under the rock work. It's hasn't moved from there since. I did notice that today (3 days later) with the lights on its stretching into the light. I started to read an article about light acclamation so I hope our nems are just adjusting to our lights.

Thanks, nauti! Hopefully someone chimes in. I'm almost certain it's OK, but I'm a nervous rookie lol

Bet yours is a looker as well!

The commensal relationship between anemones and clown fish was one the top reasons I got into the hobby. I'm hoping I get to see it soon! It's already neat was Hong the sexy shrimp in and around it!

Bit of an update on my nem!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to be doing pretty well! Mouth is closed and it is always out and inflated when the lights are on. Only problem I have is that it decided the back of the rock work is where it was going to settle! Aaannnd that my clowns haven't seemed to notice it yet!

I had to fight the urge to buy an RBTA at the LFS today. I think I'm addicted to nems lol

Thank ya! ^

I've had a pair of occellaris clowns (a black & white female with a snowflake male) since the tank finished cycling. The nem has been in a week now with no interest shown from the clowns. The sexy shrimp are absolutely loving it, though.

Little update on my nem and just showing my own concern here. I directly fed the nem some mysis (usually feed the tank selcon enriched mysis 2x a week. That was the first time I spot fed him. Ever since then, he has not quite inflated to the point that he was before the spot feeding. Is it normal for them to recede some after receiving some food directly and not just basking in the light?

GT mine do it all the time after eating should grow back out and inflate have 6 total all from the same mother. It is a nice looking anemone.
