my first RC transaction:

i bought a chiller off a RC member with plans of using asap. i recieved the chiller this morning, took it out of the box n examined it, its broken. i looked through the back grill n saw that the outtake was broken. i can see the tape that was used to try to fix it. good thing i didnt run it before checking it out, woulda been a damn disaster (tank on second floor with carpeting). so what am i gonna do now? i was really excited for this chiller because im supposed to be getting more livestock in my tank and i got this chiller bacause my tank has been hitting 85 degrees. im most definitely expecting a refund, although i wouldve rather had a working chiller. the seller will remaim nameless pending the resolution of this conflict. what am i gonna do about all this stuff im supposed to pick up in the next few days. here the pics:

this is what it looked like looking through the back grill of the chiller

yeah, hard to tell from pics, but looks like it was repaired before?

can you creatively repair to get it functional?

sucks, someone would not disclose the damage prior to sale.

it definitely looks repairable....maybe it got messed up during shipping. even if it is repairable, i wouldnt know how to fix it.

Have you tried to contact the seller? It could have gotten damaged in shipping. Ususally you can clean these accidents up then just telling everyone what happened..try and contact the seller see what he says.

Sam;)

Good thing IE resizes pics for ya (from the links above). Try Picassa from Google.com. Works wonders on pictures. :D

That looks like scotch tape! I wonder if weld-on will work if you sand all that crap off.

Sorry for your misfortune. Hopefully the seller will refund you money. You can probably contact Aquamedic w/ the pics and see if it is repairable. If it is, ask the seller to refund you the difference. I'm sure he doesn't want the hassle. In the future always try to have expensive products insured by the shipping company that way there is no loss if the product damaged in transit. (BTW it that was tape holding that piece on, I would be sure that it was broken prior to shipping)

sorry to hear that ant!! I know how excited you were about finally getting a chiller. I can totally picture you opening the door to that box, all sparky eyed. Then to finally find that its broken... I feel you. Hopefully everything goes well with this situation. And yes it is definately very hot here in socal. I hope I can come up on a chiller soon too! As for now im going topless during daytime and lights on at night. Im slowly starting to change the light hours. Turning on the lights 1hr later each time. Right now im at 4pm-12am. Ill prolly go from 6pm-2am. Good luck man...

Sorry for your bad news. I notice you don't list your tank size or your location. I am in Palmdale and I have a chiller that I will sell and it's not broken and even if it was, I am local so you can check it out first. I bought it summer before last for a prop tank I was going to start in my garage but never did. I have never used it. It is a Via Aqua CC-25, 1/4 HP.
