Bart,

I did not catch where you got your stand from? From the reading you got it out of state. If the creator is local I may be interested in using him. Thanks for the extra pics.

How deep is the sand?

Thanks
Ron

the tank, stand and sump was custom build from The Aquarium Company, MN. 1000lbs of live sand was used to get about 5" sand bed.

How do you keep your sand bed so level? I have the same amount of sand in my tank but my flow and the fishes move sand all over the place. My tank usually looks like what a sandbox is like after a child is done playing in it.

Do you have any plans to vacuum the sand? If so, what device are you going to use? Thanks.

no special device, just a simple plastic hose used to siphon the top layer sand bed.

Nice work... must be a relief to finally get to the point of sitting back and enjoying your tank. Nicely done all around, I wish your great success on your first reef tank and judging by your setup that shouldn't be a problem.

:D (sorry smstrick)

I am very impressed and amazed that you took such an undertaking on your first tank. I think because you are in your line of work is why your so detail oriented. You definitely put your skills to the right hobby. I have been folowing this thread but have waited to say anything until it was completed. I know its not 100 % complete but I cant hold back any longer. You did one of the most impressive systems i have seen by your own might i say "handy work". You did an extremely smart thing by creating an enormous working space for the equipment room. Most people make it small and just enough for the equipment with little room to move around meanwhile the majority of the time spent working on this thing will be in that room. I was equally impressed with your choice of lighting. When i asked about my system which is similar dimesions to yours, one of the lighting gurus "names witheld" told me that 6-8 400watt MH's were overkill and that 4 would be enough. You are right on target with your choice. You will enjoy this tank for decades.
All The Best!
