Fish comparability

I'm running a 180gal reef. So far I have three Anthias, Emperor Angel and a Bi color angel. I'd like another angel and two tangs (different body types) to add. Maybe a Sohal and a Cheveron. Also maybe later to add a few small fish like a wrasse type fish. Too much? Any suggestions?

I have both those tangs, lovely fish- sohal and an adult chevron.

If I had to choose them again, I would do a Lt. Tang or an orange shoulder, maybe a clown or Achilles. I like the acanthurus spp. But some are mean! Clown tangs look absolutely nice.

There's a LFS in my area selling a 6-7" gem tang for $1800, if only I wanted to spend that much.

I have an emperor, passer and Queen angel in a 180 (all adults 4-5") and a large Naso tang and a small hippo. No issues. Over skimming and high flow.

My 180 reef has achilles, powder blue, purple, desjardi sailfin, yellow tangs and a flame angel.

Both have other lesser bio load fish as well such as wrasse

Sohal will kill all of your fish when it gets large enough and also attack you every time you go in the tank for something. Clown tang the same thing basically. Get a orange shoulder they are very mellow

I did have a Sohal in my 90 for a few years and did well with the other fish but I know that all fish aren't the same.. It's a hit or miss when their normal behavior is somewhat aggressive.. He did disappear one day with no signs of his remains either.. Prob was too small of a tank anyways..

Dmorty- did I read right that your new tank is 7 ft long by 6 wide by 2 tall? What a beast!!!!

Yes it is. Building a house as we speak to house the beast in the basement with attached equipment room. Drove 23 hrs straight to get it last may

Isn't Sohal big for 180? Fortunately, there are plenty other tangs that will thrive in your tank. Also, why add more aggressive first and more timid fish last? Start with wrasses and add tangs later. 180 is big but still has its limits. Also, consider getting a Yellow Belly Regal Angel.

Good luck with that. I don't think you realize how quick they are. I don't keep them anymore, but when I did mine was always trying to take a swipe at me.

I was being sarcastic. My Sohal is getting brave. Coming right up to my hand as I slide nori into the tank. Kinda scaring me.

Anyone else think that might be a problem?

Not advisable but doable.
