Fish compatability question...

I am in the process of restocking my 75 gal reef tank with fish. Right now all I have is a fairly large brittle sea star and a hawaiian hawkfish that it about 2 1/2 inches long. I was thinking about getting a lawnmower blenny to try to help manage the algae (I know it's hit and miss with fish and algae). Would the hawkfish and blenny be compatable?

If you get a decent sized blenny and have cover available for both, I'd think they would be fine. What is the species name of the Hawaiian hawkfish?

They should be fine but as Lisa said, make sure you have a top. I have had a hawk fish jump out of the tank several times in one day through the back of a canopy. Luckily I was home and watching each time. They are quite the little jumpers.

I've had one of the red/white/plaid-looking hawkfish and a lawnmower with no problems.

OK. Thanks for the info. I have a top on the tank and have never really seen the hawkfish try to jump out of the tank before. The species name is Cirrhitops faciatus.

justin is right about covering the top, but what I meant was make sure they each have rock cover so they can have their own territories.

OK. The hawkfish usually stays on one side of the tank. I have enough rock but I'll try to re-arrange them on the other side to give the blenny more hiding spots just in case. Thanks for the info.
