lol. not kidding. i have a purple fire goby who seems vary healthy...is eating, swimming and pooping. i only noticed today he has been swimming around with a little truble. he is arched with his rear end bent up wards as if it was tied to a balloon. i saw him poop and at the same time fart out 4-5 little bubbles. if he was to stop swimming he would float strait to the surface. we have all seen fish on there last leg fighting to become a floater before death but this is differant. i think he has gas...anyone ?

I understand and sympathize. I, too am going through the same thing with my wife. Gonna follow this one.....

Did he ask another fish to "pull my fin" first???

If you sing to him this little jingle and he laughs then I wouldn't worry.

Beans beans the magical fruit
the more you eat
the more you toot.

Yes, fish fart. I have seen it in my clowns. When they eat flakes off the surface, I think they ingest air as well. They also float tail up, then pass the air over the next hour or two. Absolutely fine, have been doing it for years.

It doesn't happen with sinking food, pellets, mysis, etc., only floating foods.

Some fish have been known to communicate with Farts. I believe it is herring they use FRT (Fast Repetitive Ticks) to communicate with others at night to keep the schools together when there is little light. Maybe it was trying to find its friends.
