I cant fig out for the life of me what this is??( not the tangs) He is tan, has very bright little blue dots on him running in a perfect horizontal pattern. He is very ugly, very protective, charges my hand when its in the tank but never bites me. He LOVES eating brisstle worms and/or anythign else i put in the tank. He spends 99% of his day in the rockwork just peeking out for pictures here and there.

he been this size for 3 years...hes pretty small with a wierd flat like tail which is why didnt think grouper at first..he also has one heck of an underbite with some sharp teeth(grouper -like)

After looking with your suggestions i came up with Pseudochromis fuscus "Golden Dottyback"

what a wierd fish... Thanks guys

Looks like an Assessor to me

His tail isnt split like the assessor's tail and he is a vdarker tan..The assessor seems to be a bright yellow color

AuroraDrvr I do not know my Pseudochromis very well. But I'd guess Pseudochromis marshallensis

This seems like a good guess other than the colors...

This is going to drive me crazy!
