Fish that eat Manjano

Ok, so last night I read posts dating back to '09 about various fish that eat manjano. I'm looking for info from anyone who has had success with a certain fish. Here is the list I read about last night:
Raccoon Butterfly Fish
Auriga Butterfly Fish
Kleins Butterfly Fish
Copperband Butterfly Fish
Bi-Color Angel (hear they are hard to keep, high mortality rate)
Majestic Angel
Imperator Angel (read that in Wet Web Media)
Numerous File Fish - which I don't really want to buy

Here is my situation, like many I started out with 1-2 manjano & thought cool, a small anemone.... then boom, now I have hundreds! I don't want to go the chemical route, so I want a fish that will eat them. Fish store says Auriga Butterfly is my best bet.

I have a frogspawn, RBTA, mushrooms, brain coral & various zoos.

Thoughts?

(I've already adjusted my feeding habits & skimming)

I decided to remove all the coral and animals I want and nuke the rest in fresh water soak 24 hrs then use a garden hose to wash off the dead tissue and worms. I am still gettign all the organic off of the rock.
I hav ehealthy LR from my other system to resead the dead ones.
Predator route did not work fo rme. I used CCB and Majestic Angel. and 6 pepermint shrimp.

the chance is, that if it eats manjanos it might eat zoas too..

with freshwater you destroy the bacteria too.

greetings

I plan on moving the zoas, since most of the fish listed will eat them. I've built a small side hanging container to put them in to protect them. That is the ones that are on small enough rocks. The others I'll just have to watch and hope they survive. But I have to get these manjano's under control!

mated filefish, eats majanos and aiptasia. I had a majano explosion and this filefish will eat majanos before aiptasia. I've had multiple of these fish and they've all ate both aiptasia and majanos. They are very hardy as well and don't get very big.

I tried 2 filefish and 3 copperbanded fish and they didn't do any damage. I have a majestic angel that doesn't care for it either. My Kleins butterfly cleaned the tank in 3 days and it's been free of the pests ever since.

btw, stickboy, what car do you drive? What emblem is that from your avatar? Is it a vette? I am new to the GM world so not familiar. Currently swapping an LSX 427 into my BMW wagon right now :)

i have a cbb and it works but it also attacks my ritteri and rbta. the ritteri is safe under the guard of clownfish. the rbta shrinks from time to time

RVANANO - yes it's a vette emblem. I had mine removed and airbrushed back on with the Texans Bull in them.

I'll look at the mated filefish, but I really don't want to buy a fish I don't like. If I buy a butterflyfish or an angel at least I'll like them. Though I really want something that will work!

Aha. That's why it looked different :) Which model/year do you have? Sorry to threadjack but since it's your thread....

btw, I love my Kleins butterfly. He only eats the Aptasia.

Ahh my bad. I thought you were talking about those as I know people refer to them by a few different names.

Mated file fish worked great for me. Once he cleared my tank i gave him to my cousin and he is plowing through his problem.

2008 Vette

Klein's is a cool fish, but I've heard they are about 50/50 on eating manjano (no aptasia here)

Really? I have read from many people that the Klein's has been one of the best Majano eating machines. Also the matted filefish.

However, I have heard that if the Majano is too large the filefish may not dig in.

IMO the Klein's is worth a try.

My tank was horribly overrun by majanos, to the point that I considered tearing it down. A matted file fish took care of them all :)
