Fishdoc's 120 gallon thread

Thanks guys:)

I actually bought a tablesaw to do the equipment cabinet and the doors. It made things a lot faster with the cabinet and of course I wouldn't have been able to do the doors without it. I can also now use it to cut the baffles for my sump.

I like the simple look too. I was somewhat trying to mimic an asthetic/provincial type style. The pieces turned out ok I think. I definately learned a few things and would do some things differently next time.

thanks, Chris

Chris,
that looks great! Can't wait to see it with the tank and livestock in it. If it looks half as nice as the 90, it will be impressive.

Thanks Eric:) I will.
Got the last coat of poly on today....2 more coats of white to go then cutting and gluing baffles in the sump....then plumbing etc...

Chris

He's a malmute mix the best we can tell. A little longer in the limbs than a husky but a cold weather dog for sure:)
The other one is just a redneck:p
Chris

those dogs are good watch dogs for anyone thinking they're going to steal doc's stuff before he leaves...maybe I know from experience or maybe I don't! :)

Chris, Haven't talked to you in a while. The stand and canopy look great. So the Knoxville move is a go?:D If so congratulations!! Drop me a PM and tell me about it.:)

Well I got the lighting and fans mounted in the hood and the baffles for the sump cut and installed today.

We are all moved into the new house in Knoxville:D

It was a bunch of hard work but we were very fortunate to have lots of help from family, friends and even a new neighbor two:D

I would like to say a big thanks to C_stowers and gflat for container loans and helping with the livestock and tank move. Chris rode to Knoxville with me to help with the new tank setup and Gary helped me get the rock and fish moved. Much thanks as well to Don(imsqueak) in knoxville for checking on the tank the two days I couldn't be there. I also want to say thanks to Angela for the containers she loaned and giving a couple of my charges I couldn't keep one of the best homes for reef critters I know of:D

I lost my Hippo tang, bellus angel and Scott's fairy wrasse in the move:( The Scott's and the hippo I had kept for several years with the hippo being the longest. I had nursed the bellus back from a serious infection over several months time a year or so back. As sad as it was to loose those guys oddly enough I haven't lost one coral and everything is looking suprisingly good for what I put them through...in fact everything looks excellent:D

The tank is setup with powerheads and a smaller ER skimmer temporarily until I can get everything going. I am fortunate now to have it in my study room/office which also serves as a guest bedroom.

I questioned my sanity several times building the components to support the tank and during the move. It was a LOT of work and when we move again someday I'm not sure if I will go through all that again. Now though I feel very fortunate to have the tank and the vast majority of it's inhabitants safely moved and in a spot in the house where I can really enjoy them:)

I will post some pics when I get everything a little more squared away.

thanks, Chris

Sorry to hear about the hippo Chris, but I am glad that you made it without losing a single coral. I guess the stress was just too much for the fish. How long did the Hippo make it after the move?

I know the move was alot of work for you, but I think your new setup is awesome. You should have a very stable setup for the next four years and hopefully not too much stress.

Yeah, I was hoping the hippo would pull through. It was promising when he was moving around... Glad everything else went well. Wish I knew what happened with the fish...
