Hi , My name is Virginia and I am in Brandon Rutherford's third grade class in Champaign,Illinois . We have a 160 gallon reef tank in our classroom . We have 2 clown fish in our tank and we are planning to breed them later on in the year. I love clown fish and I am wondering how many eggs a female lays each time it breeds or lays eggs . Thank you for viewing my question or replying to my question .

Sincerely ,

Virginia :clown:

Two categories down is a forum specific to breeding, they can answer all your questions and help you along the way

Hi Virginia,

Depending on the type of clownfish and how big they are, they can lay somewhere between 200-1000 eggs.

As far as getting them to breed later this year, that is going to be more their choice than yours. All you can do is provide the proper environment and good food. They will breed when they are ready, not necessarily when you are. :)

Thanks so much for the reply's . They were both really helpful . I did not know that they could lay that many eggs !!!!!!!!! Do you know where they lay the eggs ? Do you know what the proper environment is for them to mate? Also , Do you know if most clown fish are normally in pairs or groups ? Thanks again .

Sincerely ,

Virginia
