Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
Ok, so since a bunch of you guys seem to be interested in fishing, Chris and I thought it might be fun to start a Fishing thread!!! :D We went fishing again tonight on the Clinch... They were biting very well... Caught a really nice Brown trout (14") on the first cast!!! Biggest fish of the day was a 17" Rainbow... :) Chris is still getting the hang of fishing for trout, but he caught 5 or 6 today unlike the one he caught last week!!!

Oh I look like a putz with those tiny fish:lol:
What Randy isn't telling you all is that I have now become a trout Ninja. I'm so good I can remove a trouts eyeball without taking the fish out of the water:p

Chris

I'm no trout fisherman but do my fair share of bass and catfishing
Here's my biggest Bass a 7lb 9oz I caught last march. His belly was almost as big as mine.

And here is one a little over 6

Here is a stringer that made a nice little fish fry

And these little guys were in my minnow bucket I kept them for about 2years in my fw 55gal before they all got sick and died but that is what got me into Reefing

Thanks I havent been able to get out much this summer its killing me. I am on vacation in 2 weeks and will be doing one of the 1 day deep sea fishing trips in florida I cant wait.

Those are a couple of nice bass!!!!! These past couple of weeks heading out with Chris is the most I've been out in a long time... I'm still wanting to do a deep sea fishing trip... Maybe next time I go to FL... :)

Ok guys, so, we (Chris and I) went fishing on the Pigeon River this morning... Did fairly well... Chris was slaying them... He caught his biggest Smallmoth and his biggest trout... We think the Smallmouth was 18"+!!!!!!! :D I started slow, but after switching lures finished strong... I think I caught 7 and Chris caught about 12 or 13... :) So all and all, it was a good day... Especially since this was both of our first time fishing the Pigeon... Won't be the last!!! :D

You guys are killing me! OK already, I'll take off next friday, lets go fishing! How about trying the holston? I have 2 fly rods too. I'd love to catch a smallie on a flyrod...

That's a sweet smallie on Chris' arm.

Don~ Chris and I are supposed to go back out Thursday morning... I can't remember where we're supposed to go... If I get enough done during the week though, I might be convinced to go back out Friday morning... lol ;) I haven't tried the Holston yet!!! :D

OK, I'm taking off Friday because it works well with month end billing being accomplished by tuesday and I have 2 wks vacation to use before Sept 15th.

Hopefully either you or Chris are willing to make the "sacrifice" of 2 days fishing in the same week. If not, I can alway go golfing...

I've gotta thank Randy for taking me fishing today. He set me up before hand by saying he an Chris didn't have much luck the day before. So he started out throwing a 3-4" lure towards the middle of the river and assured me 90% of the bites were near the bank but the bigger ones were in the deeper water. I threw a tiny lure towards the bank and caught 2 tiny trout. I didn't have the famed black and gold count down rapala in my box so I put on a black and silver - floating rapala. And kept tossing to the bank. Luck has everything to do with catching really big fish, skill has everything to catching consistent numbers. I GOT REALLY LUCKY!

Rainbow Trout: 27.75" (measured it Randy). Haven't measured the girth yet. I don't have a scale but I'd say 8-10lbs.

Some of the conversation:
don: I got a big one Randy
randy: (fooling with his line) thinks "ok 14"-18" gotta get my bait back in the water
randy: (thinking my rod is very flexible) "yea, is it a big one?"
fish flashes it's colors
don: loosens drag!
randy: yea, you got a big one! ???
fish is boatside
don: whaoooo
randy: where's the net!
fish sees us and the boat and makes several runs
randy: damn, the net's too small (it's like 18" round)
I think third time was a charm

THANKS Randy! It will go down as my best/favorite freshwater catch! (oh yea, I caught the biggest fish Randy's boat has ever seen :D )

Beautifull fish Don! I'm glad yall had better luck today....I am a bit jealous though:p

I assume you are getting it mounted?

True story:

My wife just walked by and I said "Honey look at Don's fish".
She said " Wow that's a nice one!"
She has never seen this thread or the other pictures so I was showing her the other pictures.
She said "It's ok honey your just learning (to fish for trout)"

Chris:)

fiberglass replica, I guess. It's in 4 zip lock baggies at the moment. Those things stink as bad a barracuda do on the hands. Wont wash off...

I thought more than twice about letting it go, but I wore it down to boat it and then I had to rip a treble from it's throat/stomach plus one from the cheek. I don't think it would have survived... at least I'm telling myself that...

I'm not giving up golf, but as I told Randy, I might take up fishing again! We don't have enough weekend for SW maint., Golf and fishing (plus mow the yard and etc.)

Ok... I finally got around to uploading the pics from yesterday and today... It hardly seems worthwhile, but I'm going to post the highlights from yesterday too!!! :D

Chris~ You'll get the hang of it, I promise... Though we can fish for quite some time and not catch one as big as Don's... :)

Don~ We should have taken a picture of how small the others looked in comparison to the biggun'...
