Fishing Thread!!!!!!!!

I got the one I sent to my boss via cell phone (while he was working we were fishing-hehe had to rub it in).
The two "little ones" are standard tablefare about 10-12"

Wow some nice looking fish!

I had planned on fishing yesterday on the French Broad... but since we took our Husky and Shepard in the canoe with us I knew it was a no go. They can't stay still or stay in the boat.

Don you need to try the flyrods out! I have caught all my biggest bass and trout on them just using simple poppers.

Man I bet you had to light up several smokes after reeling that bad boy in though! Gratz on that thing!

I fished the Pigeon again this morning. It was crystal clear unlike the last time Randy and I fished it which made the fishing more difficult. I saw many more fish than I caught. There are a ton of smallies in that river! I probably caught the same number as last time but not any big ones. I caught a couple this size and several smaller ones.

All in all a decent day:)

Them's babies... :D You like fishin' for the small ones... lol ;) So, Clinch or Pigeon Friday??? Was it wicked hot up there???

That's enough out of you Grasshopper:lol:

It wasn't too hot in the river....I fished from 7:45 to about 12:30.

The Clinch is fine. I've been looking around and it looks like we need to sein some helgramites and/or minnows for the clear water days on the Pigeon (would probably work well for trout too). I saw a bunch of fish that just ran away when they saw what I considered a natural looking soft plastic in front of them. I bet helgramites/minnows would work well downstream as well where we didn't have much luck last time. Also on days when they are generating planning on getting off the water by the time they start generating is a good idea...the water only came up a foot or two but then about 60 rafts floated by full of kids slapping their paddles on the water:rolleyes:

We can just plan on mid morning after we know the water will be up if you want...I'll call ya:)

Chris

Awesome fish Don. I fished the clinch last Saturday. Was 9 of us. 2 jon boats, a canoe, and 3 kayaks. Well over 100 trout caught but none like that!

Manly avatar updated :D And got a quote for replica: $350

Chris, with that clear water you might try to Bimini twist or tiny barrel swivel about 2-3' (enough to match the length of your line you usually have from the eye of your rod to your bait when you cast) of 6lb fluorocarbon(sp) as a leader. Don't spool your rod with it. It's unmanageable. I saw a show the other day with Cajun red line that that claim the fish cant see but I know they cant see the floro.

Lively minnows do better than hellgrammites IME. Just tie a live bait bucket to your belt loop and you're set. Live crawdads work too. I like the added challenge of artificial but in clear water it's more exercise than catching fish.

And hey, it's better to put minnows on your hook as bait than catching them "minnows" you like to catch. :p

LMFAO :lolspin: And that would be the quote of the day folks!!!

Thanks for the tip. Already read today about the flourocarbon leader and the swivel. The line I have on that reel is extremely flexible. I think that's why I'm missing so many trout strikes.

My avatar is still bigger than yours Don;)

And I let mine go.

Chris

You should also get double points since a shark can take your hand/arm/foot/whatever it wants off with a bite!!! :)

Don~ $350 Eh??? Ummm, not sure I would do it... lol The pic would have to suffice... Though I'd put it in a nice frame!!!

Stupidity points:lol:

I revived him twice...and he was a he so that makes it more manly:p

I would have to get a replica/mount if I caught Don's fish. Although I would have just gotten it mounted if I hadn't released it. Yes I'm still jealous:rolleyes:

Chris:)

Dang I hate checking this kinds of threads at work since I can't see the pics!

Was fishing down in GA at a teachers convention and caught a nice 4lb Large Mouth on a topwater... first bass I've caught in a few years.

Went Crappie fishing about a month ago and finally unloaded the camera... :D We probably caught 20 or so on the day... :D

lol The bump was really for this winter break... ;) Thought it would get you in the spirit... Since you don't want to put your santa hat on, you might as well make sure your fishing line isn't frayed... :D
