Well I did it guys! Even though I have a 120gallon I always find myself checking out the Nano section. You guys put out so much inspiration. So I finally stepped up and purchased this Tru Vu Nano.

The dims are 12x12x12. I also got a Berlin Airlift 60 skimmer for it. I haven't chosen anything for flow yet and need advice. Also what lighting should I run if I want to do LPS?

I'll update as soon as I get the goods!

nice tank...How much does that setup cost?

Not sure if a 70w mh would be too much. Maybe some compact flourescent lighting.

70w MH would not be to much....i know someone who put one on his 2.5g on a diff. reeef site..(am i allowed to say diff. reef sites???)

Nanomaniac:
thanks for the suggestions. I really like the MH but think I'm gonna get the PC because I am looking to go as clean as possible and dont want to deal with a ballast.

i'm no LPS expert, but dont most have sweepers that will sting eachother in such a small tank?

i'd go with a very blue bulb. i hate PC's IME. tough choice....

cool looking tank though. i'd like to see some more pics.

some do, some don't...and some do, but the sweepers are very short...and some that do, only develop sweepers under certain conditions. i have a FS in my 10g, no sweepers. eupyllia's only develop sweepers when they are in high flow areas. i know bubble corals are pretty notorious for having a nasty sting and long sweepers. it depends on the species and tank conditions...

i don't think i'd go with a 20K bulb, but definately a 14K. and FWIW, not only do i think a 70W MH is not too much...i'd probably go with a 150W...

Update....

Update....

So heres where i'm at if anyone is interested. I finally got the tank and most of my equipment. I ordered a grip of stuff MarineDepot and should get it today. If so then the tank should be running by this weekend.
Here are some pics.....

This is the media chamber that sits in the back of the tank. I plan to ditch the bio balls and just run rock, and probably some carbon in a bag on top.

So this is my latest update....
I set up the tank last Thursday (1/12/06) with new sand and new saltwater. Then on Saturday I added a cup of sand, and about two gallons of water from my year old 120 gallon. I havent test any water yet.

Thanks.... but no thanks. LoL
When I was in high school um...... 6 years ago I was the king of cool cars. I had a 96' GMC sonoma bagged and body dropped. I sunk my life (and about 20k of my parents money) into that truck. It was super clean. I never even really drove it. It just sat in the garage because I didn't want anyone to scratch it! lol I'm over that phase now and really belive that in order to bag a truck clean and correctly you would need to have someone like FOOSE do it at a price of about 100k. So I'm out for right now.

As for the tank....
Thanks for the compliment. I am pretty happy with it.
I am convinced however that the skimmer is just there to make a mess. Super hard to adjust and a bit of an eye sore. Maybe it just needs time to work.
