fishy's first nano build

I had a tough time bringing myself to buying two bloods for $60 and my Harlequin for $30 lol

I've made it easy on myself, because this is going to be primarily a reef tank, it's going to have 3 MAYBE 4 fish, MAX! So, finding a beautiful pair is 50% of my fish, so I want them to be incredible. The other ones will be $30 - $50 each, max. Maybe a Potter's Angel, if it's reef safe :reading:

@Fishy - One thing I can recommend to help clear up murky water is Seachem's Clarify. It works wonders! Use a few capfuls (it's reef safe!) and add filter floss to your overflow, it'll pull out the gunk in 1 hour!

The key is to find a mated pair, and have her fall in love with them, and then have her pay for one, and you pay for one ;-)

That's actually not a bad idea! lol Baby steps though, baby steps.
I sent her a pic of your ultra premium Picasso's, let's see what she thinks lol:bounce3:

Thanks Bob I'll keep that in mind. The water is alot clearer now.
What do you guys think of the aquascape? I'm thinking of taking all the rock out and doing the scape again.

I was thinking about your scape earlier, and I think it'd be great to find a piece of fake live rock, like one that I found, that is big, and creates more depth. That one piece will become the centerpiece of the scape. Otherwise, try adding some caves / peninsulas.

The aquascape could be better. But you are the one that looks at it everyday so put what you like. Also have to take into consideration on the pieces you have. Looks like you have smaller pieces so it's not bad but limits you. But I think it's pretty good. Definitely plenty of swimming space for fish. And gives you a lot of area to place corals.

What Bob said, would be good to get a bigger rock for center piece then use the smaller ones to compliment it with caves and peninsulas

I've got lots of rock that I can take from my other tank. So you guys think a bigger centerpiece rock, I'll have a look and see what I can find. I think the scape is rather boring with it being mostly a rock pile.

new and improved

new and improved

I took the rocks out and instead of putting them back in a pile i got the ceramic drill bit out and a bunch of cable ties. So this is what I ended up with.

Looks good Fishy, I like the scape a lot...very nice!

Lighting looks like it'll be sufficient for softies and lps.

Looks like a great start

thanks buddy, i really like the scape as well.
my aim for this tank is color and lots of it, so lots of softies and lps corals.

just looking at the photos again i noticed the pics didn't get how bright this unit is, so far it's still impresing me. can't wait to get some corals in when the cycle is done:bounce1:

Damn! Well done! I was thinking it looked like a "boring rock pile" but I didn't want to be that blunt/possibly hurt your feelings. I'm glad you said it! LOL. Anyways, aqua scape looks SICK now!

Very nice work with the drill and cable ties! I've never seen that done!

Thank you bob. I decided to not make a full bridge so the light could get to the bottom of the tank and I can put some corals there. You can see cable ties but I'm hoping that I will be able to hide them with corals. I'm open to critiques as I'm always wanting to improve the
tank.

2 thumbs up for new aquascape!

Thank you sir, I'm glad you like it.

I wouldn't worry about the ties too much. I'm sure they'll get covered in coralline and corals quick!

Yeh that's what I was thinking would happen. I'm so pleased with the scape and just thinking about coral placement and I think zoas and shrooms will be nice on the bottom, some nice lps corals halfway up and maybe a montipora on the very top of the arch.
What do you think of that plan?

Sounds excellent! What colors are you going to shoot for?

good question bob:thumbsup: the colors i'm going for is tank is a natural color. Not full on color but not bland either.

Hmm.. natural as in earth-tones?

I'm shooting for electric greens, blues, and hot pinks in mine. Well, really any corals that "catch my fancy" :D
